R26 To camber.. Or not to camber...that is the question!

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by R26Man, Nov 8, 2014.

  1. Hi All.....I have an R26 and am considering fitting standard coil-overs which will allow ride height and tracking adjustment.

Has anyone out there experience of fitting coil-overs with adjustable top mounts so that positive camber can be adjusted and allow adjustment / compensation for both tracking and ride height geometry changes....Is the extra expense going to make a BIG difference for fast road and track??

There are the AST's and BC's as options for fitment with the AST's probably being a better quality item.

    Feedback is appreciated!
    Cheers

  2. I've had AST coilovers , the very first prototype kit which wasn't the best for ride quality when on full soft, how ever time has moved on so I've ordered another st of AST inc adjustable top mounts,

  3. I had AST's on my 197 Cup, I used to have them on the softest setting when I was using the car on the road and they were spot on when pressing on. I done very little road miles and to be honest if it was my daly car is have got pissed off with it pretty quickly.

i can't remember the exact specs of the camber I used to run but the standard springs were quite soft for what I wanted and so I ended up going with stiffer Eibach springs.

if you do little track use then I'd go for the BC

or even better just refresh your suspension setup as it is. New top mounts, tie rods, track rod ends etc. even as far as new standard springs and dampers.

  4. I bought the old ast from Steve1 and iam much faster than him on track so they must be good
    lol

  5. I'll be having a new set fitted soon Sam , roll on next year, I'm itching to do a track day mate

  6. I'm looking at doing a suspension refresh next year... And the cost for the std item are almost as much as the BC coilovers so now I'm in two minds of where o should go for the coilovers so o can lower the car a bit at tua same time
