Suspension arm ball joint replacement

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by GSI-MAN, Sep 25, 2016.

  1. Hi all
Meggy failed the MOT yesterday and I need a new ball joint.
I just need to know if I can press these out and replace on the driveway and without removing the arm.
If you can what method did you use?
    Cheers

  2. Anyone??

  3. Interested to know this too..

  4. What arm / joint is this?

I've seen "swivel hub bearing" and also seen the wishbone ball joint mentioned

Is this one and the same thing?

A bearing has gone on mine also and I need to get it fixed

  6. And what's the swivel / hub bearing?

Is there a Megane workshop manual?!

  7. Found this if it helps pretty sure its the swivel bearing removal/refit workshop manual.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe my swivel bearing is gone so i am trying to figure out if i should do it myself or not.
If your going to do it let me know how you get on.

    Hope these help.

    Hi Ben
They are fairly easy to do, probably best to remove the whole unit and put in a vice.
Remove the wheel, caliper, disc, abs wire plug, 3 bolts holding the bottom plate, drive shaft nut, clamp bolt that hold the brake pipe as well as the suspension strut and pull out the whole hub and frame.

  9. Sorry to be asking loads of questions but i am unable to use let along work on the car a the moment due to being ill. If i wasn't i would just take off the wheel and have a look. Is there 2 bearings and a ball joints per hub as in upper and lower. Most of the talk only seams to talk about a lower. I am just wondering about parts to order. I wanted to get this bearing INA 4520 and then this http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/R...t=awin+traffic&utm_campaign=Editorial+Content

    Is that Right??

  10. There are two upper bearings in series I believe - but no-ones found a cheap replacement and they don't seem to go wrong which is why no-one bothers.

The ball joint is correct (I fitted the same to mine) - but you can probably get it here - http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/search/617745148 - plus theres a 12% off code (£5.26 total each)
