rs250 (2010) steering grinding noise & car pulling left and right

  1. Hi Guys

2 weeks ago I noticed the car when parking up making this loud grinding noise (coming from driver wheel) and also when driving on motorways where the road is a bit uneven, the car pulls left, right, left right (feels a bit dangerous). Had it checked out at national tyres twice and they said nothing is wrong with the tracking, ball joints or drive shaft. Any pointer? national tyres said it completely safe to drive but if I wanted more peace of mind, to take it to Renault as they should have the experience to diagnose and fix.

  2. Is the noise there when just turning the wheel lock to lock when stationary?
Could be the lower swivel joint?

  3. It's not only just when it's lock to lock, just steering it when stationary/going slow....

    Swivel joints.

Take it to a RS specialist

  5. Thanks, can you recommend any specialist near Lakeside in Essex? I'm tried Renault sport dealership (specialist) who are closest to me and they have a £59 inspection fee which doesn't go towards cost of repair, plus the one in orpington and enfield has a 2 weeks wait. Many thanks

so far taken it into national tyres twice, then f1 autos today, booked back in this at (for a mot like check). Ren-tech, ktec, diamond motors are all too far.....

  6. Renault will want to change the whole perfo hub , which is £1000+

I went to Aaron's Auto in Derby, £175 each to replace just the joint that had failed. I had both sides done so £350 in total.

I made the trip from London to Derby, took just over 2hrs and it was done by about 1am and I was home by about 2pm

Thanks....is this the gridning noise or the pulling to the left and right or both the same problem?

  8. I just had the grinding noise. My car never pulled to either side, but I had the joints replaced soon after the noise appeared.

Yours may have gotten worse over time?

Call Aaron's Auto and see what they say
