Renault Megane 225 F1 saying Hi to the community

    Hi Everyone,

    Just joining up to say hello to fellow owners.

    Looking to join a strong community and have a good chinwag.

    Currently driving a renault megane 225 F1 2006, i call her Maggie.

    Brilliant car, lots of fun. can corner so hard. Looking to do some improvements to her soon.
    I think this would be the best place for all kinds of recommendations of parts and what will look good.

    Ill get a photo posted soon of Maggie.:wink:

    Very nice looking mate, welcome! I am pretty new myself and yes I can guarantee that this forum is extremely helpful and knowledgable. Get a project thread started when the mods begin (yet to do this myself:tongueout:).

    Hey Harri/Will,

    Thanks for the welcome, im looking to start the work at the end of the month (payday).

    First ill start with general mantaince, she deserves a good service (will be doing this myself with help of a good friend) oil/Filter, new sparks, filter and so on. Maybe new injectors or clean my current ones (high milage so could do with it).
    Then move onto cosmetics, try and give the car my sense of style without changing her to much as i do like the current look as Will suggested.

    Cracking to see one of these going down the road.

    Hiya fella, welcome to the club, good looking car their.
    Injector tune (i think) do the injectors ultrasonicly cleaned for £57 return - works out cheaper to buy a second hand set and send them off to be cleaned than buy new.
    One thing i would recommend is a stage 1 map either from Rstuning or if your a fair distance away from leeds or fancy it on the cheap i can't recommend Henk at Fastchip with his RStuner gizmo highly enough!

    Hey JJONES82,

    If the injector clean is any good i could just send my current set of injectors away. The injectors is somthing i definitaly want to do. probably never been done on my car so will be worh it.

    Im in Southeast london so leeds is a little far, where is Fastchip located? i do want to get my car into the 270BHP area.

    Ultrasonicly cleaning the injectors allegedly puts them back into a as new condition for less than half the price of new, i think they put new pintles/ o rings on to so not just like chucking some redex through them, you also get a report with spray patterns resistance check flow rate etc etc! They cleared up my exhaust coughing intermittently flashing emmissions light + restored a chunk of power also brought my MPG up too so IMO its massively worth it, if you can do without your car for a few days (its a post and return service).

    Fastchip is a Holland based company (allways used to be anyway) but Henk the owner lives in the Philippeans now! They do a remote mapping service with a RStuner box stage 1 is generic but you can get custom maps too, you just have to do a bit of data logging with the RStuner and a laptop.
    Only thing is if you want to upgrade the injectors Henk won't do that remotely so stage 2 is realistically the most you will get out of a fastchip box but IMO its the best bang for buck mod out their!

    So going off what you said i think i will go for the Jet cleaning service as the price is half of buying new jets. This should transform the way the car drives and idles.

    As for the RDtuner and Fastchip maps this seems like a very quick and easy upgrade to increase the power curve of the car.
    i think i will get all the other parts done and then have a look at loading this into the ECU. I had a read of your forum post and you couldnt recommmend this enough as well as others.

    As im not the first owner of Maggie how would i find out if the she has already been mapped as it feels stupidly fast already?

    Easiest way to check if its been mapped is to use something to monitor the boost pressure, if you have an android phone, the torque app and an elm 327OBD reader can be used(about £15 for everything) or a scangauge / boost gauge although these will be more expensive / require fitting.

    IIRC the standard boost pressure is 0.7-0.8bar(11-12psi) stage one's are generally around 1.1 bar (16psi) although if in a higher gear they can get a bit higher than that and stage 2 higher again (on standard turbo up to around 1.5bar)

    You have been a massive source of information and help.
    For £15 i will pick up a 3270BD and see what my car's turbo is kicking out. Im using a Nexus 5 so should be perfect for the job.
