R26 Remap Figures

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by jonno971, Jan 22, 2014.

  1. Hello all,

i am after a few answers in regards to the kind of safe figures the megane will run on stock internals and injectors...with an ITG induction kit, FMIC and a turbo back with standard cat delete and sports cat fitted.

I am wanting to know what kind of air fuel ratio's i should be looking for and lambda readings. Also what kind of peak boost figures i should be looking for. I know i need to cap the torque at 300 ft lb max but im not chasing figues. I am wanting a bit more poke but not fussed if there is someone with more BHP than me.

Also, please dont tell me to go to RST as i live in the far south west of the country and i am not willing to drive that far! I am not taking the car to any old random place, i will be using a company close by that specialise in custom live mapping and have a massive fan base.

If any one could help me by even posting up their dyno results including AFR and boost peaks that would be great.

    Thanks
    Jon

  2. Then they will know what there doing then, all will be ok

  3. You wont need to know all that lot if they know what they are doing.
I suspect the £150 or so on juice will be significantly cheaper than a new engine and fitting ..

  4. As much as your local company might have a good rep, they have to have a good Renault rep. They're hard to get right. Even if you don't want the mileage, you can get remote boxes and online support. Sounds like Henk or RST can sort and support online.

  5. Thanks for your replies. I would have liked some help though as its for my own peace of mind.

Is there any one willing to help or is it just not worth bothering?!?

  6. dont bother if you need to ask stuff like that mate.tried and tested is always the best way to go on these cars

  7. You've asked for help/advice, most people are going to say RST, i live near Brands Hatch and have driven up to Leeds to have work done, i wouldn't trust anyone else with mine.

  8. Nobody has a bad word to say about RST, that, and the google streetview image here, says a lot.

My car has a remap from Red Dot Racing, and although it seems fine and had no problems crushing a 255bhp VXR, I'd still like to get it up to Leeds as soon as funds allow.

  9. yeah sack that map off asap mate trust me from experience(unless they've re wrote it by now!!)

  10. I'm not trying to say a bad word about RST...I live 306 miles from them and i dont want to drive all the way up there...is that such a bad thing lol. All im asking is for some numbers.....

  11. You are asking for figures to give to the guys at the mapping place. They should know these figures if they are going to map.

Why are you asking for AFR? Thats basic stuff , your tuners will know about stoichometric rates ! ( or they should ! )

Nobody is having a go , what people are saying is let the guys you are using crack on and get there own figures.

  12. We are trying to help! If it was as easy as giving you a few numbers, we'd all write our own maps. If you're providing them to a tuning company, you'll need a trailer for your car, or drive around in limp mode a lot. That is as helpful as I can be

  13. You don't need to drive, you can do it online and with e-mail with RST or Henk.

To be honest, the mapping is one of the key elements of the car. If it's wrong it can cost you £1000s to fix it or replace it if it goes bang due to a bad map.

Spend £100 on petrol for a journey to RS Tuning and get it mapped properly.

Which would you rather pay out?

    £100 in fuel
£1000 in engine rebuild / replacement costs.

Trust me, had mine done locally... Had to build a new engine... And then get Paul to map it. He is THE MAN!!

    Yep Paul's the daddy!

  17. if you have rs tuner just let me know and i will send you my maps for free.
AFR should be around 11.3 after 4500 rpm. and should raise to 11 at the end of rpm range. Increasing the rpm range to 7000 is better. We have tested to shift at 7000 and 6500 with the same car and 7000 rpm takes you half body ahead. The oem enjectors can only stand up to 1.3 peak boost with real cold air intake and cold weathers. At 20 C degrees it will knock after 1or 2 pull trials. So add a methanol kit or drop your boost to 1.2 peak measures

  18. With the greatest of respect you would be mad to accept another persons maps.

If you dont know what you are doing , you are in a whole new world of trouble.

This is a fairly typical stage 1 car

  20. I guess you could plan some back roads into the route to make it better. £100 of fuel for motorway driving is wasted on these cars, it's all about the corners.

  21. If he has a rstuner and afr gauge he would not have any problem with stage 1 maps. He can check the knock and afr easily. If there is any problem he can change back to original. Most probably he would not have any problem with my stage 2 map. Because we have 95 and 97 fuels which are almost the same and both rubbish. So with 100 octane fuel he would not have any problems.

  22. Gutted I had an RS Tuner and sold it, didn't realise you could use other people's maps..

  23. Am I the only one who is alarmed at the thought of putting someone else's untested maps on their car ?

  24. i did back in the day hence the car is no longer with me!

  25. I'm not worried, it's not my car and not my bill! Can someone track down the reg number though so I can make sure I warn anyone I know to steer clear?!

  26. Dead right andy, and being a long term member,i have seen so many horror stories about dodgy maps.

I think it comes down to people not realising how hit and miss it can be with megane tuning.
I am also in the far south..but still drove to RS Tuning for my map...the best decision i ever made 3 years down the line.

NO ONE has the tuning Knowledge like paul..he developed the map from the very start of the meganesport and has a faultless rep...why take a chance

  27. I'm beginning to think everything on these cars is made of cheese.

  28. Its just typical Renault scavenging the parts bin..the f4rt engine dates back to the old fuego!,
the rods are fitted to 182/172,the gearbox i think is a nissan unit.

So not exactly the last word in cutting edge technology..it just wont take the abuse/power that other manufacturers cars will.

  29. Mmmm, Gorgonzola

For what it is it's a great little engine.

  31. My mate has done around 60 hard track days in his running stage 2, and I mean 60 hard track days often running full slicks , can't be that bad and I don't know many other makes that could stand that abuse

  32. The engine is fine as long as you run it within certain parameters.

The rods cant take a sudden and quite violent ramp in torque , hence they are torque limited.

Other than that - I dont see the issue either.

  33. Before I bought the R26, which I love btw, and I never thought I'd love a French, wrong wheel drive hatch this much, I wanted a 135i. I still wouldn't say no. These come with 300bhp, and remap to 380bhp with no other mods. That's a huge 27% compared to the 12% increase on the meg. If for the same age car, 08, they cost the same I'd definitely have one. BMW don't offer LSDs either, so that's an extra cost too.

The clutch at 50000 has annoyed me. The wife is even more annoyed. She's on the verge of saying "car or me", and I know which I'd choose. You'd gain a life long member, even if I sold it and bought a 135i after a few years.

This car is a bit naff in some ways, but I sort of love anyway.
