... the Engine Management warning light occasionally flashes (Orange) on my 2008 R26. It does this at random times & doesn't seem to have any association with revs, gears, temperature, speed etc When it flashes it is orange & lasts no longer than 20 seconds or so ... it could then be a few hours, days or even weeks before it does it again. Any ideas please ?
I would say injectors has got to be first shout. Does The car idle perfectly stable or does it cough and stutter a little?
Actually, now you mention it, I have noticed that it doesn't idle 'smoothly' ... not so much as cough & splutter, but certainly not a totally regular tick over. ... As the light has been flashing would it show on a diagnostics check ? If that is the case & it is the injectors what's the best remedy please ? Do I take them out & send them somewhere for refurb or get new ones etc ? Is that costly ? Thanks for the reply ) Gary
It should store the fault and say something like 'misfire on cylinder 1' If it's not idling very well it may be worth having them cleaned as a matter of course. They can be removed by yourself and cleaned by a specialist for £70. I had the same light flashing and poor idling as you and when I put mine back in the light never came back and idles perfectly.
I work in London through the week but have weekends back up in Yorkshire (where my car is). I'm not in any desperate rush but would be nice to check if the codes are recorded etc ... could I give you a shout if I know I'm gonna be over your way one weekend soon ? Thanks for advice so far guys. At least it sounds as though it isn't anything 'serious'. Gary
