My favourite renault dealer shut down a while ago, so i only have one other in a reasonable driving distance excellent service all round, fixed my cam cover leak and did a oil change for me. valeted the whole car it was spotless, cleaned windows inside and out etc. so the missus picks the car up so i wasnt at the dealer, get it home. Invoice says they put in 5w30 oil! can they really not get their own vehicle oil right!? needless to say they can rectify it for free! Anyone know if ill be ok driving it til its fixed?
ok cheers. I've taken it up with the dealer who immediately said it was a typo, I made them check and then they said it was 5w30 but that is is approved for renault rn0710 do I not have a say what oil should go in? i (wrongly) assumed they would use 5w40! i've gone back with the service schedule showing 5w40 so that's what it should be. just hassle and I can see it being a complaint with RUK as i was on the phone to him prior to them actually changing it bartering the price where he was using the 'its 5w40 fully synthetic so it's not cheap' and then uses the wrong stuff!
Rubbish. I would ake it back and demand they change the oil to the correct specification / weighting for your vehicle. That oil will be too thin when it's hot, especially as the Megane is an FI car.. If it was NA I wouldn't be as concerned.
Yer i have, waiting to hear back from the service manager tomorrow now They tried the whole 'but its the same thing' speech, clearly its not if its a different grade! i emailed opie oils aswell who said its a load of rubbish and only use 5w40
Fair play to the dealership. Called me back this morning, said they were happy they have used the right oil but for peace of mind, they will replace the oil with elf evolution sxr 5w40 and another filter for free. I must say great service and got the end goal!
yer i thought of that, but i've agreed to supply the oil to them and they will refund me the cost and ill sit and watch, only takes them 30mins.
Fair play to them re did the oil today with new filter and with the elf 5w40 i gave them, then they refunded me the money the oil is now so clear i cant see it on the dipstick!
Its not the same..... probably makes no difference but still, when u sell itll be a problem. as a buyer i wouldnt like the wrong grade of oil put in, just gives the impression of neglect. idiots.
