Play in near side front wheel R26

  1. There is play on the near side front wheel if i hold at 12 and 6 position,so i locked the foot brake on when the car was on a ramp and tried again and no play at all.Is this a bearing issue? there is no noise when driving the car.I had the track rods plus new steering rack bush fitted about 8 months ago.If you have any information or links this would make me happy.

  2. I had exactly the same thing about a year ago, unfortunately ended up having an entire new steering rack. Sorry mate!

Steering rack is not that bad a price, as its a "normal" rack and not a powered one, as in Hydraulic :laughing::laughing:

  5. I'll have to dig out the receipts as can't remember the cost, but at the same time I had every steering component replaced. Unfortunately my mechanic ended up having my car on his lift for over 6 weeks due to the couriers losing the steering rack, and me being supplied some wrong components! It ended up being a total bloody nightmare, but I remember being pleasantly surprised by the total cost, it being far less than I had expected.
End result...... Well worth it, the steering is very sharp, and along with fitting coilovers, the handling is superb.
I'd recommend replacing as much as possible, as these cars are starting to age a bit now! [emoji16]

I got my steering rack from my local parts shop "i use all the time" turned up the following day think it was around £135.
Had to change mine as it got water inside it and it went rusty

  8. Does anyone know where I can buy a front wheel bearing kit from with the flange that goes onto the drive shaft I’m not sure if there is a flange plate I haven’t stripped it down yet but I’ve been told if I’m going to replace the bearing I will need the flange ????? Any help will be great

You won't need the flange plate unless yours is damaged, i bought my wheel bearing kit from my local parts shop.
You really need a press to get the bearing out and the new one in.

  10. Thank you
