So I've managed to kill a new set of R888's in 200 track miles !

I'm looking around for alternatives and the AR-1 look like they possibly could be up to the job.

Has anybody used them and what are your thoughts ?

I know there are probably better tyres out there, but ATM, I'm not really prepared to pay £1k for a set of tyres.

  2. I'm taking a new set of Federal 595 to the ring on Friday, I'll let you know what they're like.

  3. likewise mate, im keen to see some reviews on the AR-1s. They look pretty decent. Ill probably get a set next month as ive heard mixed reviews about the RSR's and 595's

Ideally id get the R888's but the price puts me off lol

  4. 595 rs-r is one tire not two diferent.
    People generally like
    Federal 595 rs-r
    Kumho ku36
    Nankang ns2r
And as far as I reed, people get aprox 6ooo track miles out of them.

6000 miles i wish, think i got 1200 miles 90% track use on ns2r's, trying 595 rsr's this time only done 1 trackday so far.

  6. 6000 miles????? Lol

I've done 300 on a set of 888's on track miles, reckon I might scrape another 400 lol

Always ran RSRs and still have another set but 888's are certainly a better tyre for track use

AR-1's are meant to be good, Not much info on them out there but i have seen it mentioned that they were quicker than the DZ03 round a circuit. If thats true ill be stock piling them as they will no doubt shoot up in value if they really are as good or better than the Direzzas

Particularly if they have longevity. I'm sure you can be quicker than a DZ03, but will they last...

Would be nice to have a set of track day tyres that don't cost the earth

They look brilliant and apparently grip like stink and considering what they cost in relation to a 888 I'm definitely looking at some in the next few week.

Wet grip doesn't look much but I'll just keep some Michelins for that.

  11. If there as good as the hype I can't imagine them staying low priced for long.

It seems the way the track day industry goes, parts prices constantly increasing as are track days prices but I guess they've got us all by the balls lol

  12. I hope I'm wrong, but I bet they last as long as 888s too

I moved to DZ03s to get more than half a day out of a couple of front tyres... 888s over heated really quickly in all but the lightest cars
