MTEC brakes???

  1. I've got the grooved ones from MTEC. No problems at all. Seems good quality. Haven't had any problems. Fitted about 2 months ago. I don't use my car on track just normal road driving.

I'd stick with oem discs unless spending top dollar on proper 2 piece setup with good rotors.

  3. That's what I was thinking. I don't know whether to get standard grooved discs or no grooved ones. Will it make much difference?

  4. cheese graters will kill your pads in short order. go smooth, brembo ones are around 40 quid each from george

  5. grooves will certainly eat the pads quicker..think the 275 went back to plain disks.
i swear my renault drilled disks had a better bite than my brembo blanks..but at about 90 notes for a set..i can live with it.

  6. yeah stds are plain discs on the 275. I changed mine to the grooved ones and while there may be a 'slight' benefit in cleaning the pads, they definetly chew through pads quicker. Although I think they also look better, which adds at least 10bhp and shortens stopping distance by 50 feet lol

I'd just go plain, I have some plain Brembo ones to go on mine in the coming weeks with some Pagid RST pads, cheap as well, IIRC the discs only cost 130 as they don't come in a Renault box

  8. I have the MTEC drilled discs on my R32. No problems in 12 months. But as per above. Smooth discs are cheaper and I cannot see any performance difference. If you are happy with the look?

  9. Only 340mm so no real benefit over the stand ones.....

  10. Who is George? I am after some new discs.

Did you get the brembo blanks from him? I can't find them anywhere near £90 or so? Assume you are referring to 250 discs?

  13. I get all my brakes from George now. Been no solid for r26. Get him to get you a price. He's an active member in here. Brilliant fast service

I also bought some rear DS2500 at the same time.

With george, its more about the service and speed of delivery.
I think mine came next day..

  15. Great cheers. Thought as much. The 250 discs seem to be a decent wedge more.

    Autodoc, 130 quid.

    Again.

  17. Thinking about the Mtec ones, pity they don't offer larger discs. Seem to be the cheapest two piece discs around?

  18. The two piece design won't offer much if any advantage unless they are floating (which these aren't) or they are a bigger diameter.

  19. Out of interest what is the best two piece set up?

    PFC or AP

  21. Do AP even do a kit for the Meg? My AP's on the rallye were a ball ache. Constant leaking from one caliper but think it worked alright in the end.

  22. What @-Jamie- said.

The Reyland option is OK I've done a few trackdays on mine but it's not a full floating system but is bigger in diameter 340mm --> 355mm.
