Well I've just spent a little bit of cash lately ...got lucky and found a good condition fairly low mileage r26 gearbox to fit to my 225 cup...as need to replace the clutch slave because it sounded like a pig sqealing till it warmed up..so decided to replace duel mass ,clutch and slave as fitting the box anyway...managed to get everything back together today...and just sat down with a coffee and had a little look on eBay to see if anything else had come up ...and found a new set of genuine mats...so another job ticked off the list
After my last Mégane being a r26...and came back to another this 225 cup when I'd seen a r26 box for sale I couldn't say no
What kind of short shift do suits best for the megane 2??. I've seen one from Ktec that replaces the whole selector mechanisim but there is a little piece that goes on top of the selector where one of the cables from the gear lever attaches in the gearbox. I think GT Perfomace sells it made from billet aluminium or so. Does anyone know?
Don't buy the aluminium item..it's to light to work correct unless you have a very early 225.the ktec item is a direct copy of the short shift linkage I used to sell, with a new actuator as well but is pricey.your best option is to contact Phil Watkins who can sort you out the same as ktec are selling but much cheaper
it would have been designed to work with the early twin spring actuator, which itself has a very small linkage. The 2005 on actuator is a simpler single spring design, which requires the far heavier linkage that was lifted from the scenic,to stay in sync.If you fit the light linkage to a single spring unit it will work, but is notchy as everthing is out of synchronization.
