Megane 3 lowering springs

  1. So I’ve spent the last few nights trying to find out the best lowering spring recommendations for the mk3. And not really got anywhere.

grams. Seem to be exclusive to kam and can’t find out much more about them. Don’t seem to be for anyone but renault. And possibly same as or made in same factory as cooksport.

I ran cooksport on my r26. Found them slightly too low and hard on road and not firm enough on track. They’re a decent price at moment though and wouldn’t rule them out.

h&r seem to get decent feedback. But mainly for looks rather than any handling upgrade. And the rear on some of the pics seems lower than the front which I’m not keen on.

so, car is mainly road with possible odd trackday. I’d rather not loose any ride comfort. I don’t really want to go coilovers as my budget doesn’t really stretch for anything decent.

or do I stick to the oem cup springs??

anyone’s experience/recommendations much appreciated. I’m in the process of doing a suspension refresh so before I order some new shocks I want to work out what to do with springs.

as a side note if anyone has part numbers/links to replacement oem bushes for the wishbones that would be much appreciated.

I’ve got drop and twist links on the way but can’t find a definitive on the bushes. The mk2 refresh thread was great when I did the r26 but can’t find the same on the mk 3

  2. I'm 99% certain the Grams and Cooksport are the same just different colours.

I've just had the Cooksport installed on mine. Wanted to ditch the lofty standard ride height without compromising the car's daily abilities. Car looks much better now and for normal driving it feels no different to OEM. In fact over bumps and undulations I reckon it's actually a little better now since there's less body movement.

Cooksports are fantastic value with the 20% off they're doing this week.

  3. I’d come to the same conclusion. And yeah, the price this week is very good.

  4. Same as the grams and cup shocks I had on mine couldn’t notice a difference in comfort

  5. Kamracing have a deal on with the grams springs now too. 25% off. So if you're not bothered by the colour they are the ones to go for.

  6. Good thread for me! I´m driving with AST springs now. Not bad, but I notice the car a little bumpy on B roads. Never test the cup springs so, I can´t say any difference. My idea is to go for Eibach pro-kit or Grams.
Anyway, this thread help me a lot to decide in the past. Take a look!

  7. Yeah, read through that one. It’s what put me off the bc coilovers tbh.

ordered the grams springs today with some new cup dampers.

  8. I’ve just changed from grams and cup shocks to bc, and it is a bit firmer but nothing you couldn’t live with, but at the same time dropped to 17” wheels so wondering weather that’s compensating for it

BC's on a Mk3 are really good (10kg front and rear) very good on the road as long as there turned down.

Mk2 great on track, on the road a bit hard and crashy, (8kg front and Rear)

Not sure what i'm going to put on the R26
