Long shot but does anyone have an oem lsd from a 250/265/275 that they would sell? Or know where I could get one? My one is worn and it's causing a horrible chattering sound. The gearbox is stripped out atm so if I could find one to replace mine that would be ideal otherwise I'm going to need a whole gearbox. Cheers
Can't seem to find anywhere that does a quaife for mk3 megs, the only one I keep coming across is the gripper but they're well expensive
Sorry I thought that they did one for it, just had a look on there website and it looks they don't do one. What is the problem with the diff, they are very robust the bearings are well known to fail, but not the diff.
Yeah I took it to a reputable specialist expecting to get the diff bearings replaced but they said that it has worn below one of the bevel washers which is causing play in the helical gears themselves. Although personally I don't know enough about the inner workings of the diff to fully understand that. They're saying the diff is a goner which is a shame for a car with only 44k miles. I got unlucky then I guess. I'm hoping to find someone who has upgraded their oem lsd to a gripper or something and hopefully might be willing to part ways with the oem one.
I do have one, i started rebuilding my mk3 gearbox as a spare because i track mine, i sold the car but i will be keeping it as it will fit my Grand Espace.
Big thanks to ianplymouth for finding me a diff and sending it out to me. Saved me a load of money and the car is now spot on
