Judder under braking.

  1. Hi all. My Megane was fitted with new discs and pads (front) just under a year ago. Had the wheels refurbed last month however I have recently started to feel almost like brake judder when slowing down and pressing the brake pedal around 10-20% (so very light press).

I thought it may have been the ball joints so took it on a two hour journey to Aaron's autos who were superb. They said to me that yes the passenger side was slightly worn so I said change it.

Got Aaron himself to take the car out but he said there is nothing at all wrong with the brakes?!

Anyone any idea? I havent been on track or give it a serious hammering on the roads since the new pads?

  2. Could be a number of things really.

Pad deposits on the discs, tracking slightly out, wheel not balanced properly.

I'f the only thing that's changed recently is the wheel refurb, I'd check the wheel balancing.

  3. Thanks for the reply mate but wouldn't it wobble all the time if it was the balancing?!

That's what I think it could be to be honest. I'm going to get the front pads out one day this week and clean them up.

Pad deposits or the faces of the wheel weren't cleaned up or masked properly when refurbed.

  5. What you mean Jamie the faces of the wheel? Don't get what you mean they could have done to it.

Like the mounting face where it meets the hub, if it hasn't been masked up or cleaned up after the refurb the uneven surface wouldn't let it sit flush on the hub and will cause vibrations

  8. Ahhh okay I'll give em a great scrub up see what happens mate. However again, would it not happen all time not just when braking?
