G101 application

  1. So I am getting more in to my detailing ahead of the summer and recently bought 500ml of G101 to try as a pre-wash. I used it yesterday on my Clio in one of these -

However I found I used half of the 500ml bottle at around a 1:10 - 1:8 mix and that was without using it on the wheels. Is this normal or would I be better using a regular non pressurised spray bottle?

Or even one of these -

  2. Buy 5L of it for £20, you will go through a fair bit.

10:1 is fine for general use and 4:1 for really strong dirt.

  3. I've just been looking into this as well. Where's the best place to get this from?

I've seen it online ie ebay amazon etc but is there anywhere on the high street that will sell it?

  4. I'll just get 5L from eBay - £17.50 delivered. Just wondered if a non pressured pump bottle would see it last longer as the pressurised one seems to be wasting it.

You shouldn't use much of it TBH, I use VP Citrus Pre wash in a Mesto pressure sprayer and can get several applications out of one full mix

Pressure bottles are more effective than normal spray bottles, Adjust it to a fine mist and you really shouldn't need much, Never used G101 personally mind you so don't know what its actual cleaning ability is like

  6. Id imagine it would be much the same as VP Citrus. I'll experiment with just water in the bottle.

  7. Going to be buying a 5L bottle of VP citrus pre wash right now, £18 delivered next day means can have a blast this weekend

  8. The only reason I went with G101 over VP was I believe the G101 can be used on the interior too, as well as the engine?

  9. G101 will also remove any wax coatings whereas VP citrus won't (according to LiquidF1/Ed who recommends VP citrus).
I also found the VP citrus to be almost magical in its abilities - I used it for the first time last week and didn't even need to get the wash mits out. It probably helps that I've got gtechniq c1 and exo v2 though...

  10. VP for me next time then I think!

  11. You still need to apply it using a pump up bottle - I used 10:1 and that seemed strong enough!

  12. Use G101 on literally anything. It's an All Purpose Cleaner.

Use with warm/hot water for a powerful degreaser.

Don't let it dry on either.

  13. I'd be reluctant to use g101 as a pretty wash, it will probably reduce or remove any wax/polish, unless its a really chemical resistant product.

For general cleaning, you'll struggle to beat g101

  14. I use g101 on my fleet vehicles. It is brilliant for cleaning hgv's but I wouldn't use it to clean my car with. The only time I use it is when I'm stripping back for a full detail. It is brilliant for interiors & cleaning wheels.
The cheapest place to get it from is autosmart.

  15. Just ordered 5L of G101 and 5L of VP Citrus.

G101 is gonna be used for the interior. The missus has a Mk1 Octavia VRS which has a white carpet and seat centres, that aren't so white anymore. Hopefully, it will get them white again.

  16. 2.5ltr of G101 is lot to use. I'll use the same 1:10 of Citrus via a pressure spray and only use 1ltr at most.

  17. All arrived today. I've only used the VP Citrus so far. Never used a pre-wash before so I can't compare. Seemed to go ok though. Car wasn't too minging, enough for it to make a difference though. Justified the purchase. Smells nice!

I bought a hand pumped pressure spray from WILKO. £4 for a 3ltr one. Does the job. Also got a 1 ltr spray bottle from Adsa last night, for the G101. 79p!!

  18. I love G101. Used it on almost everything. Great on door shuts and engine bays.
but would not use it as a pre wash

  19. Thought I'd give an update on the VP Citrus and G101.

VP Citrus - Not as good as I thought it would be. It's smells nice but I'm not convinced it's as effective as people make out. I use it 1:10 mix applied with a pressure sprayer bottle & sprayed quite liberally. I pressure washer it off before it drys, usually no more than 5 mins after applying and to be honest, it doesn't do much. I washed the car today and it was pretty minging. Pre-wash did feck all. I may as well not bothered with it. I won't be buying any more when this lot runs out.

G101 - This stuff is bloody brilliant. First use was to clean the interior of the wife's Octavia VRS. It has a white interior which was minging. Armed with a 1:10 mix of G101 and a micro fibre cloth I managed to restore the white carpets and seats with minimal effort. I've also used it around the house on loads of stuff (works wonders on carpet stains) and the missus has cleaned our oven with it. Today, I washed the car, starting with the pre-wash as above and there were some hard to shift tree sap stains and some road tar. Again, G101 and a micro-fibre cloth soon saw to them.
Will I buy again? - yes, definitely.
