Originally i got the engine from a forum member, the only parts i have kept is the turbo, rods and block. everything else has been changed, mostly out of peice of mind. sorry for the lack of photos as most of the work has been done in short periods of spare time. A new friend of mine is doing the mapping for me, hes a wizzard, comes very highly recommend, he doesn't let anything go out his work shop running anything less than perfect, hes expensive, but his customer services is next to non.
I will get some photos up asap, cheers for that rear bar btw mate. I hear your off to cadwell in a few weeks with dan? I might be popping down
Yeah lol, like 2 weeks ago? Im sure it was you yeah i kinda know him, was speaking to him on instergram the other day, said you guys was going down, so I thought i might pop down and watch
So before the engine goes in, starting tomorrow i thought id get her mot's as it was due within the month and emissions may ( will be ) an issue after. All was going well untill the steering/suspension tests, drivers side swivel bearings absolutely knackered. Because I haven't really driven her in a few months id had really noticed. Ironic really as i was only just speaking to dan about having them done out of precaution anyway, quick text and bearings should be with me in the next few days. Appreciate it dan. Front end will be having a complete refresh at the same time. This will basically be a new car by the time its finished Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A few photos of parts i found on my phone The postman literally chucked the intercooler out of his van and damaged the pipe work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Be interesting to read this as I'm also planned a forge engine build. Currently have the engine and forge rods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So the base map has been loaded, and the engine is been taken out as we speak. Also ordered a complete front end suspension/steering refresh from renault. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Engine is out On a bad note, my work car got broken into. Stole my wallet, work bag & 4 tins of tuna Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
4 tins of tuna! In all fairness it is quite pricey these days. What tossers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well today we got the engine in, and running ( ticking over ) tomorrow the rest will be built up, still need clutch bleeding and a few pipes put inplace Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Quick update. The clutch is a been a twat to bleed, thats the only thing im really waiting on. Then its coolant pipes and front end on. Thanks lee for popping down. Nice a45 btw [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got her started this evening, after abit of hunting, coughing and farting she finally idled properly after all the sensors was zero'd. Al seems good, just need to get the front end on tomorrow and run her in
So my brand new LuK slave has shit itself after 20 miles. Few problems with boost at the moment, but soon to be sorted hopefully. Cheers andy and chris for the speedy replys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know your pain with the slave, I had 2 in 2k, royal pain in the arse, any idea why yours has failed?
Not sure yet, think its just to so with the higher clamping force. The LuK ones are sort of in two parts were the Valeo is one complete unit. Think its just split. Will be ringing LuK and engine dynamics tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had 2 luk slaves go in 2 months. They was the older plastic type though. Both leaked from the O ring where the pipe joins the slave. Was yours one of the new metal ones? Just wondering because I've just brought one so might fit a bigger O ring before I fit it.
Mine was plastic mate. Yes stay away from LuK slaves. Will be sending a an email tomorrow, cost me even more labour... More oil Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm sure I read on here that the metal ones were a lot better. I'm going to take the pins out and have a look at the seal now.
Seems the new one is a bit better. http://www.rsmegane.com/threads/clutch-slave-cylinder.9379/#post-105561 I'm still opening mine up before I fit it.
