Every time i drive my car some d**k seems to think it is clever to try and race me or drive so close to me they might aswell be in my boot!!! The worst thing is, that 9 times out of ten they are driving fiestas or BMW 3 series or similar! Latest example was yesterday when i passed someone in a scooby covered in stickers on the dual carriageway decided to drive really close to me then come flying past me in a 50, to prove a point i think! Then 5 miles down the road someone in an astra diesel decided to drive so close i couldnt see his bonnet! I lost my temper then and sped off, then swiftly recieved a slap from my wife!! Does anyone else get this? Other people tales of this would be good to here!
I had one the other week, ended up next to each other at the lights, turned out it was an S5. Who knew? Lol
I get constant hassle from renaultsport clios...... im going to stick a big DIESEL sticker on the back lol.
Nope never. In the two years I've had it I haven't had anybody race me in my area. When I left mark blacks after fitting full 3"'system I had a civic and a dc5 up my ass coming off a roundabout leading to a massive straight but didn't boot it as I was at 98% injectors before fitting. I was gutted lol
I had a set too with a Vauxhall the other week...I killed him through a series of roundabout's...then it was game over on the straight, at least it was a vxr8.
Also had two different rs4's on m e case lately...had a little fun buy nothing too hairy. Actually impressed how the Megster held her own. Be careful out there.
I actually agree grumps....I usually only drive quick when no other cars are in site...those were just a few times I was in that type of mood.
I agree with grumpy too. Normally I just let them by or slow down. Normally the reaction is better when I slow right down
Get it all the time especially on the ring road around 9-10pm on a Sunday. Depending on my mood depends on what I do.
I get it all the time too, unfortunately it's either some tit in a 1.2 who ain't worth my time or some pillock in something like a 911 or V8 Merc that I clearly wouldn't stand a chance against, once again I don't bother.
Had a white Beamer chase us quite aggressively whilst pootling through Birmingham on Thursday; almost forced us off the road once whilst trying to taunt me into racing him. I just slowed down to a crawl and overtook him just by being cleverer with lane choices, he wasn't amused at all!!
I get Seats, BMW's and the odd Audi A4......pain in the hole but the car is a bit of 'look at me' with the red pack, Brembos, black alloys Ect so I suppose it's expected.....I try and ignore it, but it's difficult especially when you have the Hedgehogs in their 'exec' 40k cars trying to prove a point....I suppose they don't like the fact that a Renault can outpace them on the twisties.....I may go for it (safely) on the twisties and slow right down on the straights......fun!
I think its just because we expect it to happen, so we notice it more. On the flip side: I came over Cat&Fiddle in the peak district on Sunday and had the road to myself except for 1 van driver infront who just refused to let me past (to be fair he was giving it some). But it was my only oppertunity for a decent stretch of road to myself so I made an effort to get past him, potentially exceeding the 50mph average cameras in the process (oops) but in his situation it was probably "why do boy racers have to race me".
Driving to manchester today looked in rear mirror and had a corsa stuck on my back bumper i was doing 80 pulled in to let it past some chav grinning away it was a 1.2 must have been screaming it nuts off when it accellarated past i had my four month old niece in the car so was in no mood for playing
I must admit I've never really had anyone drive too stupidly around me in either Megane. I don't know whether it's because they look a bit more purposeful so people don't try it or they just don't know that these RS models are quick. The Clio on the other hand, well a lot of people would try it on with that. I think they'd just assume it was a 1.2 with a loud exhaust or something. Most of the noise from it was induction noise anyway but certainly the smaller fast cars seem to get more 'challengers'. Admittedly I can't help rather liking the chance to surprise a muppet in a car they think is quick when really it's just a 'Limited edition' Corsa with a 1.2!
I get this a lot.. as Ben says it's usually Twats in cars that the owner knows that on paper they are clearly quicker which is quite lame tbh.. However if the conditions are right ill happily embarrass them with my much bigger wanger especially if they have their missus in the car
I had this last week, a new shape astra vxr up my chuff on the a13 so give it the beans as did he and left him for dust, was surprised really I thought it would cream me but he didnt come close! Think I need to get on the rollers lol
It's surprising how many people's bank balance does not equate to driving skill!! I remember driving down to Goodwood and following a new 911 Turbo down a nice national speed limit stretch of road. Every single corner, the brakes came on, round the corner slowly and then speed up for the straights. In the end there was a queue of relatively quick cars waiting behind and the 911 just pulled over over and everyone went past. It wasn't as though there was any tailgating or idiocy but I know on those kinds of roads you can make some good progress without driving like a tool yet the driver of this very nice car was just a bad driver.
I get it now and then around Hereford but nothing around South Wales where I'm from. It's mostly tools in 1.2 Saxos or stickered up Scoobys. I did have a nice little go with my mrs ex in his VX220. She was in the car and told me I needed to beat him. Lol. It was safe to do so, so I did. I was quite suprised how well the R26 did against a VX220 especially as she has mentioned a few times how much of a good driver he is supposed to be.
Yeah I get this a bit but it's never anything in my league. Always something that will trash me or something that clearly doesn't stand a chance. Love embarrassing people in the twisties unless it's some arse who doesn't know his limits or his cars.
It's usually some barry in a diesel vauxhall or often Golf GTIs none of which stand a chance unless they're one of the Editions 3*'s and even then only in a straight line. Very few people on the road appear to know how to driver around corners though...
Haha some Barry in a diesel. I was just tootling along in the sun other day and some Alfa was sat up my crapper. Next thing. He overtook me and choked me out with a cloud of black smoke then was annoyed when I carried on tootling. It's scary how many people have fairly quick cars and can't drive them. Had some guy in a 200 I was having a play with nearly kill himself at a roundabout other week. Slowed down for his sake
 I quite agree, I generally drive slower if someone tailgates me, and save the fuel for when I have the road to myself and I can enjoy it. Although it's not always easy to resist the temptation to put some upstart in their place, I just think of almost 40 years of unblemished license and the desire to keep if that way (yes I am getting on a bit)
