Decent garage in the Bournemouth/Southampton area (Swivel bearing replacement)

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by telemarkhero, May 3, 2016.

  1. Morning Guys,

Need my Swivvel bearings replaced (already bought SKF's). Tried doing them myself but the driveshaft was siezed in the hub and managed to break a hub puller in the process.

Can anyone recommend a garage in the S/W, not K-tec though as the want to charge nearly £500 just to replace bearings, I'm not knocking there service work but that was to rich for me.

Any pointers on who's had these done in the S/W and what it cost would be appreciated.

    Thanks

OP I use Tech-1 in Upton, Poole for all my RS work. Basically an ex-K-Tech technician who went out on his own to do more interesting race/rally type stuff and Renault/Peugeot hot hatch work cheaper than K-Tax.

  8. Thanks NJH, has he done swivvel bearings before?

Phone him up and ask, I would be amazed if he hasn't as he seems to have done pretty much everything RS related including engine rebuilds and a ridiculous number of Clio 3 Meg engine conversions.

  10. So managed to speak to Paul and arrange going in. Does anybody have the part number for the seal that goes on top of swivvel bearing and if anyone nows of a supplier for these?

  11. We'll that was fun. Just spoke to RSC who wont sell me the seals unless I buy the bearing from them. I kindly informed him that I had the bearing thanks and just needed the seals. I then ask him if he can give me the part number for the seal, no Joy.

Does anyone have the seal dimensions or a part number for swivvel bearing seals?
