Hiya guys I'm new here so please be nice! I'm considering getting a new Megane 265 and just wanted to get a few opinions on colours, wheels, seats (i like the Leather Recaros but what are they like to live with?) and other options to consider for the car. If i get one i'd defiantly get the Cup chassis as that makes the car IMO! I've recently been on the configure and have seen a colour called Titanium Grey, has anyone seen this in person? So in other words I'm just looking for first hand advice! Any relpys would be appreciated, thanks.
Hi pal, well its its a very personal choice but here's what I know. i have the 265 in Oyster Grey with the leather recaros and cup chassis with upgraded 19" Steevo alloys. Titanium grey is lighter than mine but with more emphasis on the metallic shine too. My recaros are fantastic and wouldn't change them for anything else. The chassis and wheels make it a sweet ride too and not too firm IMO. the only thing I wish I had is the r.s. Monitor but plenty of other people will tell you not to bother with that. Depends whether you're a gadget geek or not I suppose. With the 4+ warranty at the moment I plumbed for nearly new which saved me about 8k so that's worth considering too.
Thanks for the reply! I'm considering Mercury/Titanium or Red with 18" Black cup pack alloys, leather Recaros, TomTom or maybe R-link & might consider a sunroof at this moment in time!
Once you have specked a 265 up an extra grand or 2 will get you a 275 trophy which will get you, option of 19 inch speedlines recaros and rs monitor as standard titanium akrapovic as standard flocked bits all over the interior and an extra few ponies
Are you ordering new mate? Have you seen the 275 trophy? Similar prices, nicer interior and comes standard with the acrapovic exhaust
Thanks again guys! Am I right in saying that there is a limited amount of 275's available for the UK?
I asked the dealer specifically about the limit of 100 and he knew nothing about it. I do think that Australia is only getting 100 though, maybe that's where it came from. Not sure why as they seem to be the biggest market for Renaultsports now after France. I believe the production is being wound up in March though so they may well be 'limited'.
Thanks for the replies guys! Just another quick question, has anyone driven a 250/265 without the cup chassis? I'd be getting the cup chassis but i'm just curious to how the sports handles in comparison
fact remains the megane is top of the hot hatches due to the chassis (i.e cup chassis, stiffer springs/dampers/lsd/thicker roll bars etc) buying one without is missing the whole point of the car, in my opinion! 265 is a great car, I would say that im bias, but it's fantastic and miles better than my old r26 must haves are the cup chassis and recaro's!
Just popping in to comment, in my neck of the woods, we got the Sport, Cup and Trophy The Sport has a good chassis already and easier to live with, also has 18" with higher profile tyres (compliance) and also no mechanical LSD (electronic/vectoring) Sport also gets heated comfy leather seats Cup/Trophy here has stiffer Cup chassis, 19" Steevs, and lower profile tyres, along with mechanical LSD and leather Recaros So these are things to consider I have a 250 Cup and I find the setup perfect (good balance between stiffness and compliance) but then i find most hatches to be too soft; LSD takes some getting used to Recaros are awesome IMHO Great car, waiting for 275's to appear here...
Bounce between East Rand and Fourways alas, Redbulls are great, but i need a bigger jump from a RS250 Cup, RB8 gives me folding mirrors, 15bhp, satnav, RSMON2 instead of RSMON1; Need more man, need more; Even the 25bhp is negligible IMHO, but at least its the latest and is facelifted
Fair enough man. Have you been to the Renault dealership on the way to the airport? Although the dealership I went to at glen didn't have a clue about the different specs ect
Spent a bit of time working in GP and that is the only dealer I saw, thought to be fair, seen hardly any RS's at all. The 275 is epic mate - if you're looking at a new RS I'd definitely wait.
Such an uncommon car over there...compare to the gti's. Only saw two RS's on the road one was my cousins which he doesn't even have an alarm for so that's defiantly saying something lol and and another 265
East rand is full of RS', you just gotta look out for them, very sneaky; i never noticed them until i got my RS, i know of about 5 in my suburb, and see plenty on the motorways
