250 Coilovers

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by James B, Apr 13, 2014.

  1. Well I've made the decision that I really want to get myself some coilovers, but the only set I can justify buying are the H&R coilovers.

Has anyone got any information on these coilovers? From what I can tell, they are just the 'street' coilovers, so I'm a little worried that they aren't massively 'handling' focused and are just for getting the car nice and low.

Has anyone got any info or reviews on these coilovers?

  2. If your going to do it then do it right, KW are the ones to have , well that's what Dijon racing use on the mk3s

  3. Thanks for the replies guys. I had some Mountune tuned Inox V1's on my last car and they were insane - I was shocked at how good they were, so I've always had it in the back of my mind that I should be getting KW's.

I'll just have to save up a little more! Lol. That's not a bad price though, cheers.

  4. And thats part of the reason why they are rare as hens teeth James, as i posted in your *wanted* thread.

  5. Yeah, it's crazy isn't it! Need companies like GAZ and BC creating some more reasonably priced coilovers.

  6. Tell me about it! I guess its just a side effect of the Mk3 being a relatively low volume car, so the market isnt there to justify product development for alot of the companies :worried:

  7. Yeah I guess so :worried:

I'll just take the hit and then hope it pays off with the resale value!

I have GAZ gold in my car. But not ready to sell at the moment.

  9. Oh right, so you're testing them at the moment then?

Do you know when they will become available and at what sort of price?

  10. If they are anything like the Mk2 coilovers I wouldn't touch Gaz with a barge pole

  11. Hi John,

Why do you say this? I don't know GAZ coilovers for Mk2, i only know them for 5 GT turbo. I remove them very fast.

Do you had bad feeling with them?

    Thanks.

KWs are lovely. I run the v3s on the old girl.

  13. How long have you got, it's quite a long story, just stay clear of GAZ , mind you most companies are shite when it comes to a megane

  14. Hi,

I just ask about this product to know if it's good or not. I don't have any opinion at the moment for this GAZ coilovers for MRS.

If you ask me about these for 5 gt turbo, i can tell you my feelings.

On my meg, i've got KW clubsport, but i wanna try other.

    Thanks.

  15. basically , this is a brief version of what happened

bought them , that arrived with wrong springs , no helper springs , did not fit . my car went to a well known garage near me who build race cars to get fitted / sorted out free of charge paid for by gaz . it was there well over a month changing springs , bearings , changing top mounts etc .The garage could not believe the problems with the kit .

eventually got the car back and within me driving it 2miles down the road i noticed straight away the front shocks were bottoming out . how this well know garage did not spot this is beyond me .. i figured it out within about 5 minutes with a tape measure that the front only has 25mm travel before the bump stops .

so i took them off my car again and sent them back demanding a refund . which i eventually got

then moral of the story ... do not buy gaz lol

  16. Stupid question:

Was the car not too much lowered down during the fitting?

How much did GAZ told you could low down the car?

    Thanks.

  17. wasn't scraping the floor mate , to be honest it should of been able to go at least 50mm lower no problem . i had i set a little bit lower than cooksports

  18. After an hard tracking session (@ montlery oval speed track) KW has warmed too much. So dumpers started to softing very much, and this causes me to brake my wheel arches.

To be honnest, montlery is an old track with many bumps, with high speed, so this is not great for shock absorbers...

  19. ^^

    Are these KW clubsports?

  20. Yes!

  21. Why not try Billstein B12 of B14?

  22. Aren't KW all twin tube shocks?

  23. I don't think Clubsport are.

    I know Competition Kits yes!

Hope, but not availables at the moment untill June.

  24. KW are - in my opinion - defintitly better then H&R in built and ride quality.
Also H&R are known to be soft and there is no full adjustable set of coilovers available (or ?) also no adjustable topmounts.

I would buy a KW again, but also Bilstein is bringing there "Clubsport" version this summer (guy of the german board is testing them already on the Nordschleife) but as far as I know costs are approx 3,5k €

  25. €3,500??

That's insane! I'll be sticking with the KW's as I won't be on the track much, it's just for the road mostly.

  26. Where would one go to have coilovers properly set up?

  29. I would be about to buy a coilover kit for my MRS3, I am very focused for a kw clubsport, some of you have mounted the clubsport? Can you tell me if there are negative things? Alternatively, the same level as what you can buy? nitron R1?

Unfortunately, in Italy a few have changed the suspension, I can not seem to find information.

Sorry for my bad English : (

Only issue i have seen about the Clubsports are the springs are a little too soft for full on track work but going up rates should be easy enough.

I like Nitrons products but the KW's have separate rebound and compression adjustment as opposed to the Nitron only having one adjustment doing the two
