Brake caliper refurb

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by Ro$$y, Sep 7, 2016.

  1. Hi guys,

Does anybody know a reputable place that can do refurb's on brembos. Mine are looking a bit tatty and I would like to get them done. Preferably somewhere close to Manchester.

    Cheers
    Matt

  2. Are you handy with a set of spanners? you can do them yourself very easy, buy a kit on eBay with all the seals, pins etc, (£50 for both calipers) and just get them powder coated at a bodyshop for £30-40 total spend £90.

  3. That's the problem I'm pretty useless with spanners. I could probably give it a go if there was a detailed guide somewhere.

i bought a second pair to do myself, really easy to do honest

    blow out the piston
remove dust seal and the square cut seal from inside the cylinder
i used engine core plugs to block the bore when shot blasting
when refitting make sure you put the seals in flat

    plenty of videos on youtube

    heres mine

  8. Can anyone on here shotblast and refurb calipers?

I tried a firm but the paint has peeled off already... So don't want to send them off there. Was thinking about dipping but the dipping company can't find anyone decent to shotblast them

Any one on here do it?

  9. Where does new bleed nipples for the calipers?
