Black R26

  1. Hi all,

I've been browsing the forum for a little while now, and thought it was about time I signed up!

A brief bit of my background; I've owned french hatch's before - 106s, saxo VTR / VTS before I bought my E36 328 sport. After falling out of love with cars, I was invited along to a 'ring trip last summer with some good friends, including Ferg on here in his RS250 which I passengered in. To cut a long story short, I was hooked again!

The BMW was great, but I've never felt truly confident with RWD the way I did in my tiny FWD hatches, I needed something that was modern, fairly comfortable but most importantly fun! There was a brief consideration of a Mk5 ed30 / R32 but I knew it was the megane I wanted, and so after some browsing for a nice example, I stumbled across this; a black R26 that'd been used as a 3rd car (behind a GT3 and an E90 330d) which had only covered 29k miles when I bought it.

it's truly brought the fun back to driving for me again!

the only 'mods' I've done [so far] include removing the megane badge, black renault diamonds, K&N airfilter in standard box, DS2500 pads, Pilot super sport tyres.

future plans? in no particular order - Airtec FMIC, exhaust, stage 1, KW V3's, R26R spoiler - and most importanlty, some time on track!

  5. Well, not the biggest update - but a pretty important one!

noticed the clutch slip a few weeks back, so booked myself in to go and see Mark Black today.

took the two hour drive, had an R26.R clutch, Single mass fly and slave cylinder fitted.

Also fitted a K-tec 3" exhaust which Dan dropped off at marks for me. Sounds much better at higher revs, but was still very nice and quiet on the A1 home. (Was concerned that it might be really boomy on long journeys).

ive been toying with the idea of selling up, and getting mk3 Meg. But I feel like I'll be keeping this for a fair while longer - with plans for an FMIC, decat and map next on the shopping list.

  6. Those plans.....hmmmmmmmm  I can relate to those as that's basically what I want as well...... Congo on the Meg, she's a beauty!

  7. Although I have a mk3, I really do like a tidy mk2. Keep it up man.
