Best pads for 'spirited' road use

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Ro$$y, Apr 7, 2017.

  1. Hey guys,

Just wondering what the best pads are for road use in your opinion ?

I don't want any pads that are going to squeal like mad when cold.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. Standard all round!

  6. Standard pads are terrifyingly bad, would suggest EBC Yellowstuff.

  7. I'd have OEM over Yellowstuff anyday...

  9. How's that? Coming from a 250 on Yellowstuff, driving a 275 on OEM it scared the living shit out of me..

  10. OEM don't have a good intial bite but they don't fade as fast as Yellowstuff. I'm not a fan of EBC pads in general..

OEM pads really arn't as bad as people say as well, if you use them properly and have some decent fluid they are more than up to the job. Git-r is a perfect example!

  12. i have had these on 2 cars and found them useless.
even on a ford puma,2 fast stops and they were fading..chewed the disks to bits.
Stupidly put them in the back of the R26,again,droning on high speed stops, and grinding my disks..

  13. It's funny how we all have such different opinions on pads and how much of a slating the standard pads get.

The standard brake set is one of the best things about the car, is it that owners aren't experienceing good things because fluid hasn't been changed? - this was the case for my car, unfortunately it's not part of the regular service schedule so makes sense.

Even for track use they're fine, like every other part of the car

  14. I used the OEMs on track until they were worn. Never faded. If the initial bite was better I would have fitted them again.
