Hey all, Another new Megane owner here. Well I will be soon as I've put a deposit down on a Capsicum Red 2011 RS 250, due to be picked up this Friday. And I literally cannot wait. I've been out of the performance car game for a fair few years doing the whole family, need a big boot thing, so I've been pottering around in a 2004 Octavia vRS. However age and circumstances now allow for a modicum of silliness and less practicality, so the Skoda has gone and the Megane is soon to be mine! It's a FF one with most of the nice toys (no visibility pack or R.S Monitor, shame) and judging by the test drive, the stock handling and performance will be more than enough for me, so it's likely to stay as Renault intended. I did consider the Cup as suggested by some non-married friends with no kids, but the FF fits my needs perfectly. Cracking handling, incredible performance in standard trim and a surprisingly compliant ride to keep the wife happy (if) when I let her drive it. I think talent will run out long before I lament the missing LSD. I'll no doubt be snooping around the detailing forum, as although I'm not a cleaning obsessive, I do like to spend a fair few hours waxing and polishing and I find it very therapeutic. Once I've settled into ownership, I may try to get along to some meets and maybe dig out the old crash hat and do a track day when the tyres are ready to be replaced. Once I actually have the car, I'll get some pictures up. Friday cannot come fast enough! Regards, Nath.
Thanks for the welcome guys. Just 1.5 more days at work and 1 more sleep and I'll be off to collect it. Like a child at Christmas?! Yessir! Suppose I better insure it now really
I'll get some up after this weekend when hopefully I've had a chance to polish it I absolutely adore this car though, it's everything I hoped it would be, so I'm properly happy with my purchase \o/
Thanks all. Yeah, it's a FF with no cup chassis. On balance and because it's used as a daily driver, I thought the standard chassis would be more than capable, whilst remaining compliant and comfy. Feeling the grip in the dry and the poise and control of the chassis, I don't think I'd have be able to extract the benefit from the Cup.
Pics! Well, it's only taken me 4 months, but I finally have some pictures to put up. They are pretty rubbish, mainly because I'm a rubbish photographer, but my wife does this for a living so I'll get her to take some fancy ones soon
Ta! That was after 9hrs with a DAS6 PRO, Meguiars Ultra Cut Compound, Ultra Finishing Polish, then Synthetic Sealant. Could have done with a fair few hours more tbh, but I was knackered!
I've seen a couple with these wheels now. They seem pretty rare. Mine could do with refurbing soon and I was considering black, but the more I look at them I think I'll keep them the same colour.
