Hey everyone So iv recently purchased myself a 2010 Magane 250 rs cup and to make a long story short, I love it!!!! It handles better than pretty much any FWD car iv had and pulls well enough to put a grin on any performance car enthusiasts face but still looks good and modern with a decent level of comfort. Now I’d like to say the story ends there and il love it forever as it is but me bring me there will be a few little mods in the future. I’m obviously thinking of the obvious, exhaust, inter cooker and remap but I’m more in to my handling mods so I have a few questions to ask you guys ? The car will mostly be used for the road but there will be track use involved once in a while as well so, 1) How much adjustment do you get with the geo set up of these cars as standard ? 2) It’s running 19” wheels at the moment but is it recommended to drop a size to 18” due to some track use or stick with the 19”s 3) What’s tyres do you guys run ? And lastly what kind of suspension set ups are available ? Iv had some really good all round set ups using a decent set of springs, tyres, breaks and geo set up on previous cars but with these cars is it advisable to go all out coilover set ups or is there cheaper less track focus options?? Can’t wait for your reply’s guys.
1..Not to much...if its the same as mine..only the front can be adjusted. No adjustment for the rear without modifying. 2..Yes the 19s compromise handling.Better balance on the 18s 3..Depends on what you want..road IMO Michelin PS4...Road/occasional track..Yoko ADO8R..Track(budget dependent)Nannkang or federal budget..Toyo 888 if flush. 4..If you track a lot then coilovers is the way. AST`s seem very good for the 250.
......as said, just the front toe is adjustable you can fit rear hubs with toe and camber shims and that works well if a bit faff and yes any quality set coilovers with adjustable top mounts as front camber is highly effective on these if can induce bit more than measly amount from factory
The shims maybe be something to think about I the future, and I think a decent set of coilovers, bushes and some decent set up in definitely on the cards, cheers lads
Haha thanks Jamie il keep that in mind. One more question for now but as this is my first turbo car is it a good idea to get a turbo timer or should a good cool down procedure be sufficient??
yeah..a cool down last couple of miles is always a good idea after as thrash to get temps down before switch off. if the mk3 is the same as my R26,it has a pump that circulates coolant through the turbo after switch off, that will help to get the heat out. Using a top quality oil will also help massively,as it will remain more stable when exposed to high heat. I have always used Renault own recommended elf brand for many years..no probs so far.
