  1. Hello! A lot of this is a transfer from my "introduce yourself" section, but thought it would be easier for anyone that hasn't seen it.

    Afternoon all,

    Just joined the forum!

Always been a Renault fanboy, owned a few of them over the last few years. I did have this
    [IMG]

Which was a 1.6VVT, nice car, fun to drive, lacking in power.

    I then went on to this;

Very very fun to drive, enjoyed this car quite a bit but I ended up going over to the dark side and bought an EP3 Type-R! Cut above the 182 if you ask me, however there were quite a few modifications for the type-r, exchaust, cams & map, the usual! Can't find any pics of it currently, but it was silver with black wheels lol

So back in January I bought an orange Megane 225, I had nothing but problems with it. The drivers window regulator failed 3 times in 3 weeks, radiator blew a hole in it, top mount replaced, spring replaced, cv joint, track rod end etc.. etc... etc... It spent more time back at the garage I bought it from being repaired than actually being driven. Another thing that irritated me was the traction control, you could turn it off and then it comes back on at 60km/h? That's no good in the twisties. Just a catback system on this one, went okay. Decided to sell up!

Now here I am, I've just bought a Megane F1 (Number 400). It's done 68,000 miles with Full service history. Cambelt, waterpump & Dephaser all replaced 6k miles ago.

It's got a full Miltek system with sports cat, pipercross enclosed panel filter, forge recirc valve, and possibly mapped. The reason I say it's possibly mapped is because when stationary the fan comes on, even from cold, but when moving it goes off. I can only assume someone has mapped it to do this and it does feel rather nippy.

Now I know I'm 27 but I do enjoy a little play now and again, It's had no problems against Type-R's, VXR's, I even sat with a MK3 Focus RS until the end of 4th. Funnily enough, the one car I did struggle against was an Integra Type-R DC2 running 227bhp (cams, map &exhaust) I pulled about a car length and it literally just sat with me.

I'm all booked up now for Castle Combe on the 15th June, open pit and see how she performs. Literally just serviced yesterday, oil, filters, plugs & coil pack.

Need to get to RSTuning as well to see what power it makes, I'm hoping it isn't mapped in a way because it'll be a right pocket rocket with a map! Next thing for me is a Forge front mount and a decat (friendly MOT tester) and then another map, hoping to see 280bhp with those mods.

The only thing I've really done myself since owning is give it a clean and converted the stereo to DAB. Fits in nicely and will get some pics.

    Here she is!

    Thanks for reading.

  2. So I decided to give her a little clean the weekend with all this nice weather and took off to Stratford in search of some pics, not great quality as it was on my iPhone but yeah...

So today I decided was the day to take the Megane for a power run - Really nice guys and I've used them before at their old place in Cradley Heath. If anyone is interested the address is; Hi-Tech Motorsport, Unit D1, Hoo Farm Industrial Estate, DY11 7RA and it's £25 + VAT for a power run. Bargain!

Anyways, from my previous post I assumed the car had been mapped, now I am not so sure!

It made 246bhp ATF and 225 ft-lb, from what I can see the car has a sports cat, recirc valve, pipercross filter & miltek system, the remap I wasn't so sure about, what do you guys think? Power run done on Tesco Momentum fuel.

My next steps are either Hybrid Turbo from RSTuning, or the Megane 250 Turbo, I'm really not sure which. Front mount Intercooler, Decat (sports cat will be for sale), mintex front discs and pads & remap.

Any suggestions welcomed, although I will try and keep it as clean and as standard looking as possible.

    Matt

  3. Lovely car mate, also really nice car history at an age of 27!

i see the belts are replaced, just fyi the megane doesn't have a dephaser as it doesn't have vvt

  4. Thanks! There are other cars... but I've decided to leave them out lol, first car was a Clio 1.2 Vreg, I'm sure I have pictures of it somewhere lol, I had a Saxo VTR that had police lights and a speaker haha, a punto as well... and a Silver 172 clio but I kept the ones I actually liked.

Oh thanks for that, I didn't realise, learn something new everyday!

  5. power looks standard to me though, could be the upgrades added a little bit but certainly not mapped!

  6. Yeah completely agree, even though it made like 20bhp or whatever from the mods, the torque is standard and my fuel is horrendous lol which is a dead giveaway! Going to get to RSTuning and get it mapped, I'd be happy just to see a torque increase and the bhp stays the same, it feels quick and noticeably quicker than your "vtec" boys but you never really know do you

  7. Car look lovely mate, I'm currently looking to buy an f1 edition well I thought I was, looked at a couple and they were complete pigs. Can't seem to find a clean one, with seats in tacked..

  8. Thanks! Yeah, I've been quite lucky with this one, avoid a company called MOTORHOUSE in Birmingham, I looked at a red R26 there, they clock the cars. If you search Motorhouse Birmingham Mail, it'll bring up an article about the owner going to prison for clocking them so definitely avoid.

Seats are in good condition on this, few marks here and there that I've tidied up, but you're right it's hard to find a decent one nowadays!

Always liked F1's... not a fan of those silly black sill stickers though!

  10. There are a couple in Birmingham I'm thinking about off eBay. The ones I've seen the seats and door cards are the things that put me off, stained, ripped and just looking rough.... Urrrrggggg

  11. Yeah I don't like them either, just keep them on to stop the stone chips and it will probably be a pain in the a**e to get off

  12. Daz

    Daz

Never stone chips there, first thing I thought was they're hiding some damage, I certainly hope not!

  13. Not really much to update, exhaust was blowwing a bit so put a new gasket on then decided to have a little listen.

  14. Hope everyone's enjoying the weather, little bit cooler today so I had the chance to give her a proper good clean.

Washed at Shell, then clay barred at home and finished off using Meguairs Polish.

  15. Looks proper shiny mate!

Any news on the turbo yet?

  16. Cheers mate, took me hours lol! Smooth as a baby's bum now though.

End of July I'll be ordering it mate, just ordered the Airtec front mount, trying to source a decat pipe and then my sports cat will be for sale and then injectors, then turbo, I'm tempted to go down the megane250 turbo route because maybe a hybrid on stock internals could cause an issue, I'd expect to see 340, don't know if the engine could handle that!

  17. Probably not, although it's torque that needs to limited most.

downpipe groupbuy on here mate

  18. So I was out last night when an Audi A4 decided to shoot across my lane and smash into the side of me before driving off....

absolutely gutted for you mate, was looking so good

  21. Brings a tear to my eye everytime I look outside. Can't believe it!

Through the power of social media, he was located!!! Now it's all going through his insurance!

  22. Jesus mate. Make sure you ring the police aswel seeing as he drove off!!

  23. WOW..... but good news that he was located. Absolute idiot for driving off, regardless of the 'i'm not gonna try and mug you off'. There should be no circumstance where you don't stop after hitting someone.... Maybe he had been drinking and thought it was better to get caught once sober??

About 11 years ago, believe it or not a double decker bus drove down the side of of my dads S type and drove off. Someone at the bus stop had fortunately seen my dad go into the shop and collected him. Had to chase the bus driver down AND argue. The driver said he was close to loosing his job but wanted to sort it out cash..... Offered him £250 to fix a couple year old S type door and rear-quater panel...... Needless to say it was reported to the bus company and went through insurance

  24. GUTTED FOR you.
Happened to my 17 yr old step daughter recently who struggles to run her own car, guy gave her a dodgy no and being naive she didnt take the reg plate!

  25. Yeah I called the police at the scene but nobody attended, apparently they were dealing with a Grade 1 which is murder or officer in distress, so 2 and a half hours and nobody arrived... Ended up being recovered before anyone turned up, now I've got his reg and insurance I can get it sorted that way.

Tried to get his plate but I only managed to get the 05 bit at the start, I'm just thankful for Facebook in this instance!

This kid tried to deny it was his fault at first but that text and the fact he drove off is enough to say he was at fault, his passenger into my driver side as he tried to get off at the junction, really gutted. It'll be a write off as well I think, Wishbone, strut, cv joint, track rod, steering rack, driveshaft snapped inside the gearbox, front bumper, wing and rear quarter, I'd be surprised if she gets fixed

  26. Sad to say but i think your right.

  27. That's bloody awefull mate! Be sure to play it through his insurance though!

    gutted mate :worried:

  28. Daz

    Daz

    Sad news.

BUT there's plenty of cars out there to move on and up.

I've already written a list of things I want off it lol - before the other vultures start to circle!

  29. Lol, dibs on the gearbox if it's a nd0 020

In the Netherlands we have a saying which is: someones death is another ones bread :tongueout:

  30. too many funny cigarettes over there

  31. If it's written off get a price to buy it back from the insurance company to make some more £££

  32. Yeah was going to do that to be honest, engine is absolutely fine no damage whatsoever, no leaks nothing.

    Recaro half leathers in blue,
    Sports cat
    Full miltek system
    Forge recirc valve
Engine has only done 71k will FSH and all the belts changed, it still starts and runs fine..

I'll see what the insurance company say

  33. I would really strongly recommend you report this to the police, this guy might still do a runner when he finds out the bill! Insurance companies can be pretty crap at this (hit and runs), particularly if there is no official record of the accident from the police.

  34. Plus send him a text asking why he drove off!

  35. I got his reg and phone number, my insurance rang him up and he said "I panicked, I didn't know who was in the car, I thought I might get beaten up, I tried to come off at the junction and he was in my blind spot"

    Got him for liability!

  36. That's great, atleast he admits to everything which is in your advance!

As i said before, be sure to play it through the insurance and indeed, try to buy it back if you have the space/time/knowledge to break the car. Will probably soften the pain a bit!

  37. So I've bought the car back and I am breaking it;

    Here is what is available;

Engine This has covered 76,000 miles - with receipts and service history to prove. The damage was drivers side impact and the engine runs and starts without issue. Made 250bhp & 225ft-lb on the rollers.
Gearbox Covered the same mileage as the engine, no crunches or whining. Being the R26, it comes with LSD.
    Sports Cat Covered 20,000 miles
Full Miltek system Covered about 20,000 miles, not blowing.
Blue Recaro Bucket seats & interior - No rips or tears in the seats, excellent condition.
Front Passenger suspension, hub, driveshaft, shock absorber, bearing etc No damage to the passenger side, all of these parts are mechancially sound. Some even brand-new after just replacing them before the accident
    Recirc Valve

Doors, Panels, Bootlid, Headlight etc... All of it is available. The only parts that aren't available is anything on the front drivers side. I'm willing to let the car go complete if anybody is interested to save me the hassle of breaking it down.

You can reach me on my number or drop me a message on here. 07599407463

All of it is open to offers - please be sensible, if you need it shipping I have a courier I use with work and get a good rate, so can get it delivered to you as well if you'd prefer.

    Matt

  38. Sorry but is this car an R26 ?

  39. I'm sure it's a 225 F1 not an R26, so are you sure it has an LSD

  40. A bloke hit my wife a while ago and he was at fault, the was nothing major just a bit of panel damage, he did stop but gave her a bogus phone number and she did not get his reg.
We obviously tried to ring but it was an unrecognised number.
The following day she was in work, when who should roll in, the bloke who hit her!
The soft prick had jacked his car up to check it over the following morning when it fell off and landed on his hand!
    Karma???
Quick check of his records and boom, full name and address, we took a drive around there when she got in, and the car was on the front and we got his reg!
