Can i ask why you bothered with the MK3 Brembos?

Pistons are the same size as the Clio/Megane 2 RS ones.

  7. Probably because they have a bigger pad surface, the radius in the caliper is made for bigger discs and they look better:cool:

brakes do look sexy, bet they cost a fair bit too!?

Great work from John Steve I would of upgraded to larger discs before if this was an option.

  10. Aye , I'll stick to my 330s Ed

  11. newbie question...who is doing that conversion? thanks

  12. A mate of mine has done it for his own R26 track car but will no engineer for anyone else , he hasnt got time, will not do them regardless of cost as he's busy enough running his own precision engineering company, all though he did say he will knock me a set up

  13. Same calliper spacing as std so relatively easy I think

longer bolts and a couple of spacers

v tempting assuming I can find some sensibly priced M3RS calipers

  14. Full of win. Worth looking into I suppose.

  15. job done. 348mm PF discs, PF pads, mk3 calipers. looking forward to testing them out

    Nice one!

  17. Does it fit under 18" rims?

  18. Fits under 18" wheels yes... Mine is running std r26r wheels

  19. What size wheels are in the picture ?

  20. have you bolted a wheel on their yet ?

  21. K tech have!

  22. Well in that picture the wheel will NOT fit as the PCD is different from the 250 to the R26 so will need slight alteration

By the looks Steve that's the problem setup for the Megane 2s with the mk3 caliper adapted to fit so should be no problem with wheel figment at all.

look forward to hearing some feedback Dan.

  24. Get the car back tmrw. It isn't coming back on axle stands

  25. U sure? (Didnt know that)

  26. the wheel will fit steve , I hope K-tec have made spigot rings to allow for the larger centre bore hole

  27. Do you not have to elongate the wheels bolt holes

Bloody ipad auto correcting, this setup is with the Megane 2 performance friction disc setup so why wouldn't anything fit?

As above, Why wouldn't it fit. It looks like it just uses the Mk2 Megane bells with the larger rotors from the MK3 setup.

  30. If that's what they've done then fine

Why would you do it any other way? That's just plain backwards

  32. If the 348mm rotors fit the R26 bells then it's easy, but if you've bought a complete 348 250 PF kit then you will have to elongate the wheel bolt holes, it's a bonus if you all ready have the PF bells for an R26 though

  33. i wonder in 350mm would fit as there are loads of options for discs then! hmmmm

    ^now we're talking! Do it!!

  35. I've been searching for options as indeed there are plenty of 350discs on Mercedes's, however they are all way thicker.

i then looked into touareq calipers but they aren't radially mounted and the oe mount is in the way of the Clio/megane hub

  36. for those interested..I was a bit busy yday and didnt confirm the detail

the solution as suggested is simply 348mm PF discs as per Megane 3 RS , mated to the Megane 2 aluminium floating bells also from Performance Friction. I used some 2nd hand M3 calipers, the secret sauce is some machining, and some bespoke spacers. It all mates up nicely and there are no clearance issues using the std R26R 18" wheels

net net it looks pretty OEM as the calipers dont look hugely different unless you know, but as a package incl. braided lines and Millers racing fluid, and 13 spec pads, should produce harder retardation (no doubt some physics guru will correct me and say it wont as its all down to the contact patch which is still the same) and / or better heat soak capability due to bigger discs and bigger pads. and it looks cool

Sean at K Tec will happily replicate for others. Its not cheap but hopefully I will flog all the original parts to someone looking to upgrade a Clio which will help a bit, and for me personally with its intended use of mainly track work, an upgrade worth having (esp running 260ish bhp and sticky yokos)

    cheers

  37. The contact pad isn't the same is it, you now have bigger pads so the contact patch will be bigger, those brakes will be mega mate

  38. Btcc cars have used 350mm Discs in the past and they get used a race and swapped out so there is plenty about im sure they are 350x28 which would fit the MRS3 caliper iirc. they a 2 piece too

  39. They do fit. I have 350mm ones on mine under 26r rims.

My my old meg had 356mm discs but the calipers fouled the wheels under heavy braking.

  40. I've got 17s so may not clear, although they're OZ Alleggerita which have more clearance than most wheels so I was considering these which are 343mm and a direct fit with standard callipers. http://www.reyland.co.uk/renault/

As for Mk2 and Mk3 Brembo callipers, they both have 130mm mounting points so its probably quite easy to fit them seeing as the disc heights and thicknesses are the same.

In fact I'd say in theory you could get the 343mm discs from Reyland, a set of Mk3 callipers and pads, longer bolts or standard mk3 calliper bolts, 4x1-1.5mm washers and job done.
