    Hi All
I am after an engine, not to worried about it's condition/mileage just needs to be serviceable.
My intention is to rebore and fit forged pistons and con rods, not going for silly power just want reliable power.
Or if there is a forged engine going

  2. Why don't you try to source a 250 engine mate? Way easier, reliable and more power potential

Isn't there an issue with the wiring and fuel supply ????, or do you mean bare 250 engine and them swap all my bits on to it, only want to run 300hp ish reliably

  4. There isn't an issue with doing the 250 swap into a 230. It is a much better engine!

You can keep all the 230 ECU and loom, and you need to swap over pressure sensors and the alternator. Also, best to reuse the 230 throttle body which will require an adapter plate to fit.

You can run happily with the standard 230 fuel pump on the 250 injector & fuel rail. Although you have to into account the limits of 'only' 3.5 bar max fuel pressure.

I have just completed this and got my car mapped today. You can run 300hp this way with the same supporting mods you would've needed for the 230 (e.g fmic, 630cc, maybe zorst [emoji6]), but on a much stronger engine and with the benefit of loads more torque.

Having said this, I have a 230 engine that is cheap and prime for forging. Has a damaged piston on cylinder 1, but the bore looks clean and unmarked. For forging you have to bore out the cylinders anyway as the forged Pistons are oversized.

That is exactly what i am looking for, i have found a set of forged pistons and conrods for less than than a grand, alreadt have a full Scorpion exhaust and a set of 630 injector, wanted to do over the winter ready for next year, mine is used for track days 90% of the time, it's done 115k miles so expecting it to fail soon

  6. Cheers Ian, my engine had only done 52k miles before it let go.

If you are serious about forging for track use, I would strongly recommend you budget for a swirl tank fuel setup. Fuel surge is probably what brought mine down.

I must admit i have only once had a fuel surge problem and that was on the way back from a trackday and that was up Holdon hill Exeter (long, steep and wanging it), on track i always have at least 1/2 a tank.
