Inherited Meganes

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by Greggers, Jan 9, 2021.

  1. Hi everyone, thought I'd introduce myself. I've recently inherited a couple of Meganes, one R26 and a 225 possibly with the Cup chassis.

Until fairly recently the R26 was a daily driver, not that it got driven very often - only doing about 3k miles in the last 3 years. The history file suggests it's had a fair amount of work done at KTec during its life with a few mods along the way... Other than the big dent in the drivers' door and the high mileage, it seems a decent car.

The other one looks terrible, covered in a pearlescent white wrap... But under the covers it's had a recent build from Engine Dynamics and I think some other bits and bobs - It's not been MOT'd for a long time but has been used on track.

I don't think I have the room to keep both and am erring on the side of selling the R26 and then getting the other one road legal again so I can do some track-days myself without having to use a trailer. Difficult to gauge what the R26 might be worth, but first thing I should probably do is get it MOT'd again.

If anyone has a drivers' door that'll fit an R26 and is ideally red, let me know.

    Cheers

  4. Well, just had the R26 looked at by Engine Dynamics to investigate a stuttering issue @ low revs.

    It's down on compression across 3 cylinders 120psi / 110psi / 110psi / 145psi - Engine has done 140k.

With the somewhat patchy bodywork I can't justify throwing any more money at it so won't be having it repaired, it'll be listed for sale very soon - would make a decent car to break, I just don't have the time.

At least the engine in the other one will be OK.
