Rs250 boost hose dimensions

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Project 1200, Oct 21, 2019.

  1. It seems that no one lists the top boost hose for a 250 separately, they all come with the induction pipe. Does anyone know the measurement of each end of the boost hose, it was mentioned on here before

  2. i can find out tomorrow for you if that helps cars at my workshop

  3. Its a reducer 45mm at the compressor outlet and 55mm onto the hard pipe.

  4. The closest size samco 90 degree reducer listed is 45-51 which isn't quite right according to your measurement.

  5. I just found a 46-57 mm on ebay for less than £10 which should work.

  6. here's the correct size hose 51mm to 57mm

  7. A 51mm would easily stretch on that's the measurements I took from the two part kit I have which was the small 90 deg elbow and the induction hose.

  8. So its not 45-55 as you initially said arch ???

This is the correct one that myself and multiple others use.

Plus it's like 10 quid as opposed to the massively overpriced GTP kit

  10. My Hose is 46mm and 56mm, just remeasured it and I am happier fitting the 46mm rather than 51mm which isn't exactly going to be a tight fit. There are loads of silicon hoses around some of the cheap ones are 2 ply and not the more rigid 5 ply so be careful what you buy.

Annoyingly and to anyone who wants to know in the future, 51-57mm is definitely not the right size. 57mm is fine for the hard pipe but 51mm at the compressor side is way too big. 45/46mm at the compressor side is probably a much better fit.

It may work tightened down with a hose clip, but it isn't the right size.

  15. Really?? But the "kits" for sale are 57-51mm... and many people have them on they cars witouht problems...

Not sure about the kits, but 51mm is not the right size for the compressor side. It's like 5mm ish too big.

  17. That’s interesting So was the 57mm-45mm the hose you fitted and do know the suppler as couldn’t find that dimension reducer

It should be something like that size but I also can't find a supplier so will look at the kits. For now I've 'fitted' the 51mm by just clamping it down with a jubilee but as the hose is so much larger than the tube it covers you really need to make sure the clamp is done up super tight otherwise you risk a boost leak. Ask me how I know
