  1. What sensor are you waiting for (sorry could read back through, but fuck it :laughing:) i put my bumper back on today, but not much else, might do the exhaust tomorrow, then maybe not :anguished:

  2. yeah its the air temp sensor as my pipe work has all been changed :smirk: was not sealing air so new one coming ... much better access with battery tray out and bumper off to refit ..

Your bumper is back on , that's a good start :grinning: just been reading up about your exhaust , very interested to know the outcome of this as i see you are running a Miltec the same as mine which for some reason mine is 98DB :persevere: so no good for Thruxton do you recommend i fit a box like this before my remap ? or wont it affect it ...

  3. My ITG cleaned & re oiled :expressionless:

  4. Ahhh where is it coming from, must be coming by post then, stuff by courier is turning up really quickly.

I bought a mid box because of the cat being removed it was a bit too loud, as long as i can get through the noise test at Bedford then the rest of the track will not be a problem, Bedford noise limit is 87.5db :cry:
If you have a decat pipe fitted then that is why yours is that high, mine with a non resonated 3" Miltec and the cat fitted was 85db, does depend on the track though.
The box i bought is straight through, with the sound deadening around the outside of the tube.

  5. :joycat:
    Yes its by post

Ok I'm a bit lost with this tbh coming from diesel power :blush: so what do you recommend i try, to get the noise down as currently i can only do Castle Combe  also not really in to noisy exhausts but i guess it helps for the power side

  6. That's the problem, it really limits the tracks you can go to, it's either refit the cat :openmouth: or fit another box in the system.

    I bought this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-18-C...178577?hash=item1ea9f13e91:g:ZAsAAOSwa-dWlmOD

Its a decent length, box is 18 inch long and 2 inch on the ends, it's 4 inch in diameter and is straight through, perforated tube inside should quieten it down

  7.
  8. I wouldn't think it would have any effect in performance by fitting a centre box, it's not restrictive it's straight through

  9. I'm glad about that , one less thing to worry about before mapping :expressionless: hoping to do Thruxton or I'm up for trying somewhere new (if car is all good ) around august time .. have to let me know your plans !
will give me time sort the noise problem

  10. I still might join you at Castle Combe, or it's joining a couple of mates at Bedford, or i might just wait till it's mapped and go from there, Mid to the end of July or August is very possible, will have to look and see what open, i also need hotels to be open

  11. Looks like the 3rd is fully booked :smirk: but i also have the 24Th July booked so that could be an option, by which time more places could be open ,
I see there rules have just changed a bit , PASSENGERS, EXTRA DRIVERS & ESSENTIAL HELPERS MUST BE FROM YOUR OWN HOUSEHOLD,, so its starting to improve

  12. Let me get my mapping done, then i'll get something booked, are you restricted to certain days or are you flexible.

I want to get back to Anglesey, Oulton Park, Donington, could do Silverstone towards the end of the year as it will be cheaper and it's good in the wet.

  13. I can book time off no problem with 2 weeks notice, so fairly flexible ..
i guess its just how brave i am with trusting the car :astonished:with what's happened that's why i want to do a couple of local days first to test it out :flushed: think i best get some breakdown sorted to be on the safe side

  14. The likes of the RAC and the AA, won't recover your car from a track, i got caught by the RAC when mine broke down at Snetterton, they charged me £782 to drop be car back to Plymouth, even though i had full European breakdown cover

  15. I'm self employed so i can go anytime i like really :laughing:

  16. Shit that's scary :flushed: surely if you brake down either going up or coming back they wont charge extra ,
i had the turbo go on the little 118d at Combe but managed to drive it back ok

  17. That's well handy !!!
i work for a water company on the cards, so get 28 days a year ,apart from taking 4 away for Christmas.

  18. I ran a big end bearing at Thruxton, but i managed to get to Stonehenge before it was too bad to carry on, he saw the tyres in the back and asked if i had been at a track day, i said yes but the day before :laughing::laughing: i was just driving back home and it went

  19. I can say i have had more days off last year than that just on trackdays :blush:

    Poppaboost likes this.
  20. Got away with that then :grimacing::grimacing: thing is how can they really prove different

  21. Fair bloody play !! I'd love to, but my funds only allow one a month  my mortgage has one month remaining so that will help out a little , at least a couple of tyres anyways :grinning:

Did you fit your exhaust today ?

  22. Sort of got away with the engine, just new bearings and a replacement crank.
As for the RAC yes i did get away with that one, i didn't even bother calling them when the engine dropped a valve at Spa, though it would take weeks to get the car back

  23. Its all about priorities :laughing: the wife isn't interested in going away on holidays and neither am i, so it's trackdays for me and flower/country shows for her, although i also enjoy them.

Gutted Taunton flower show isn't on this year, went last year it was really good.

No i have not done my exhaust, i pulled my back yesterday fitting batteries to a boat :cry:

  24. Oh bugger, that's pants , hope it gets sorted soon , that's half the reason i had to give up green laneing on my ktm as it was killing my back :disrelieved: but tbh track days are more fun anyways :grinning:

  25. Interesting as it sounds like you get more issues on the longer tracks , was this in your old Renault

  26. It was in my 225, it had a 250 engine in it, but that came from a crashed car, there was a hole in the sump that you could put your fist through, so lord only knows how long it was bouncing off of the limiter till the engine was stopped and oil to run out.

I have done the ring 5 times in the 265 and Spa a good few times as well, in standard power, so hope this engine is all good now

  27. Been taking it easy, i have strong pain killers for my arthritis, they have helped along with the alcohol :sunglasses::sunglasses:

  28. arthritis that's not good  especially in your back ... yes more alcohol ...

Got my bumper back on today , but left the under tray that joins to it , so I have access for the pipe work ... nothing much i can do until the sensor turns up, hopefully Monday ...

  29. My arthritis is in my hands and feet, sometimes in my shoulders, i'm in trouble if its in my back, with the work i do i won't last long before its too much.

It feels a lot better now, so might do my exhaust tomorrow, or after work on Monday.

  30. Yeah go steady as don't want it knackered again...
unless you got a car lift , crawling under cars is a back killer I find ...

  31. No lift just a couple of jacks and axle stands, but the floor of the workshop is carpeted :laughing:

    RS250 castle combe likes this.
  32. Just think of the jobs you could do if you
dig a pit out & concrete it, or maybe 6" blocks , then fit some good LED lights  that's what I been thinking about for years , plus now the kids have grown up , no worries of them falling in :grimacing:

Did you manage to get the exhaust fitted today ?

  33. I only rent the workshop, they will either want me to leave the ramp or charge me to get rid of it
If it was my own workshop then i would have done it years ago.

Not done the exhaust, will do it in the week, had a lazy day today :laughing:

  34. Ok Ian , I'm interested to know how many DBs it reduces ....

  35. Still not done it yet :confounded:
Will take before and after readings and maybe a video

  36. Brilliant thanks !! As that will give me a good guide , somehow I need to lose 10db :expressionless:
