R26 One thing leads to another!

  1. Evening all, I recently fitted one of Phils short shift conversions which transformed the drive and let me drive the car how I wanted to...…….but.....after driving the car yesterday Ive come to the conclusion the clutch is slipping. Can someone help with any checks I can do to make sure it isn't the pedal, slave cylinder etc. The car is slipping in the higher gears trying to pull from low revs and enthusiastic driving moments so Im anticipating the worst.

If someone could point me in the right direction of the right parts to order and a trusted garage to do the work near Canterbury that would be very much appreciated.

  2. So I called Ren7oaks today and they quoted me £895 for a standard clutch, gear oil and slave cylinder change. Does this sound right? It sounds very expensive to me but this is my first quote.

  3. I paid roughly £940 a few years ago on mine at rentech

  4. Have you tried Two Techs in Dartford? Really good reputation with Renaultsport cars. Generally very reasonable prices and a trusted garage.

  5. So it sounds about right then. Its a bitter pill to swallow but I want to get the car right

  6. Thanks Beau, I havn't. I will give them a call tomorrow. Dartford would be more convenient than Sevenoaks too

  7. That’s price I paid for labour/clutch/ master and DMF so yer it’s way too much

  8. Thanks Bobsan, I'm going to shop around. But I did just get a new DMF for £100 on ebay. Second hand but unused

  9. That’s interesting as these were an exchange item only with reno, have you fitted it with no issues ??

  10. My DMF, clutch and slave cylinder replacement at midlands renault specialist was £800 including labour - so I'd say that price isn't so bad.

  11. But the OP is saying his £895 doesn’t inc DMF

  12. Oh well then that's a rip-off

  13. The car is booked into Two Tech for the middle of this month. Dmf,clutch, slave. Cambelt, water pump and ancillaries. swivel bearings, mot and service. An expensive month but Two Tech have said they will try and keep it to as close to £1400 as they can. Im expecting more things to rear their ugly head so I guess it will end up being more than that

  14. Little update
I cant recommend two tech highly enough so far. Great customer service. Terry has taken me through every step he is going to take. The car sailed through the mot and service. He advised an engine mount is on its way out so he is replacing it for me and not charging labour as it's coming off for the other work. The car should be back at the end of the week and I can't wait to get it back and book some track days
