How susceptible is the front end of the meg to wear from normal driving? I have had mine for around two months now but the more i look at it the more it looks like someone has been going over it with a piece of sand paper, it wasn't like that when I bought it. It's worst on the 'high' point on the central line. I'm starting to wonder if the bumpers had a bad respray.
The paint is really soft with all the megs, not sure about the 250's though. Mines on 49K miles, bonnet is chipped all the way up and the bumper is lightly chipped. It's quite common, a good wash seems to hide them well .
Motorway miles destroy the paint with these...it looks more scratched than chipped could be the light though. Personally I would give it a strong polish or "mop" and then see how it looks pal . Worst case is a blow over at a paint shop probably.
It is scratched, quite badly and it's getting worse. That's just from general daily use. Nothing's touched it to make it look like that. Wonder if dealer warranty will cover that, it wasn't like that two months ago.
There has always been on small spot under the passenger headlamp missing the clear coat. But over all no not flaking. Oh btw it wasn't from a Renault dealer, it was a Skoda dealer in Cambridge.
I think it will be a flat no from C/S they will say it is up to the previous owner or garage to put right. Good luck with it anyway.
The sales of goods act states that if anything goes wrong within the first 6 months, you have to assume it was faulty when purchased!
Smithandroper on here. Renault body shop at Howden. Excellent guy and done a lot of work for people on here
I wonder if someone has tried wetsanding that before. A decent detailing person may be able to sort that, but they'll need to be A1 to even think about letting them attempt it.
I don't know it's really odd. It defiantly wasn't like that two months ago, now it looks like I have been driving into sand for a few weeks. There is no way fresh air can do that yet nothing else has touched it. It's only that top part of the bumper too. The first few inches of the bonnet is the same, nowhere near as bad as the bumper is though.
It look like it has been painted before and overtime by using sponge's hard cloths it has got swirle marks in it. I think if u machine polished the bumper with a cutting conpound and then machine waxed it after it would look 100 times better.
Cheers mate, it will be getting a good polish for the winter and the when the weather pics up I'll get it resprayed.
