Got a r26 and looking to do a day at Caldwell next week, done a few motorbike track says before but never a car one. It's an open pit so I assume you can just head out as much as you want? Now for the r26 how long can you run at once before it needs to cool down? 20 mins? Anything i I need to do to the car, it's standard apart from a stage 1 Plan on taking my dad as he's over from abroad, I assume they let you go around with passengers? Can he do a few laps aswell? Thanks in advance
20 mins fine passenger laps free extra driver normaly £20 extra get some updated pads in, standard will not be up to the job also decent fluid won't be a bad idea either 1st and foremost, enjoy yourself
I knew you would ask that, I'll get shot down in flames if I give my opinion, if it were me though I'd be buying a set of high carbon discs at £60 and a set of DS1.11 pads at £157 from JJC race and rally that's just me though
Buy once do it right and have no problems or buy cheap go home very early with knackered brakes, just my opinion though mate
I agree with Steve.Fit the best you can afford. I started with DS 2500.Wore them out. Martin Gave/Fitted Carbotech XP 8. These, for me,give a better pedal, and greater stopping power. I have some new DS2500,but am going to try the DS 1.11 next. If this is your first car track day,do not follow some one else, set the pace you are comfortable with, I usually find some one better than me, ( They nearly all are!.) and get them to come out with me for a few laps, and i have found this to be a great help.Be safe, have a great day.
I don't think I can just get new pads? Do I need to do the discs aswell? Also the d 1.11 say not for road use which I will need as it's still my road car thinking about using my motorbike helmet which I assume will be the same as what they will hire. A open face would be better tho
Be ok for a couple of good laps, you'll either get pad deposits on the discs so the steering wheel shake like a shitting dog but before you get to that you'll get brake fade with the pedal to the floor, you maybe lucky and get neither though, order parts tomorrow you'll have them by Tuesday , 1 hour to fit
DS 1.11 pads are perfect for the road, very popular pad which everyone uses on the road, instant bite from cold, yes HC discs needed as well
looked on their site and they dont sell ds 1.11, tempted now dont want to ruin the track day if the standard brakes are not up to much
get the fluid changed for some decent stuff, ds2500 will be fine for now, you can upgrade to the ds1.11 once you get the trackday bug.
I bought my ds1.11's from deamon tweeks, cost a bit more but delivery was very quick, think was next day.
thanks will ring them, i guess any high carbon disc would work or are some certain brands worth going for
you have to ring them, it does not show on their website make sure you tell them you are from the forum or it will be £200, they have gone up in price think I paid £135 + vat they had no discs in stock so got them from kam racing as they were the cheapest I could find that had them in stock, now i just need to try fit them on wednesday with the new fluid, could be an experience not really the most mechanically gifted person. booked cadwell for the 2nd july aswell, so just under a week can not wait will be a different experience from on my bike I would imagine.
Its the Brembo HC discs: http://www.apbrakediscs.co.uk/front...ault-megane-ii-2-0i-16v-t-sport-rs-04-on.html Use code 'iluvehoses' brings the price down to £60
