250 Tyre pressure monitors

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Dean250, Jun 1, 2015.

  1. I recently had a warning on the dash about low pressure in the near side front tyre, think it dropped to around 2.2 bar, Inflated it to 2.5 bar as per the other side yet I still have the warning message coming on.

After some driving both tyres are rising to around 2.6/2.7 bar although the one I inflated must have a touch more air in as it rises slightly more than the other after driving.

Any ideas why I'm getting this message when the pressure is fine and the sensor clearly works!

    Thanks for any help.

Are the readings still at 2.6/2.7Bar?

  3. The readings when cold on a morning are both at 2.5Bar, this rises to 2.6/2.7 after driving to work.

Just seems strange that both front tyres are doing the same thing but the one that the pressure dropped on is still bringing the check tyre warning up. Almost as if it's a software glitch that needs clearing!

Yep I agree, it could just need a simple reset on the instrument cluster and/or the UCH. It may also be a genuine fault with one of the sensors to (Seized valve for example)

  5. if you've been using roadside garage air lines, their maintenance might not be that critical when it comes to daily draining the water trap and you end up pumping water from compressor into tyre where of course it corrodes the sensor.

  6. Mine does exactly the same Dean when the temperature drops a bit ! As you say, there's only fractions of a bar difference in pressure but it still throws a fault on the dash. Although when I inflate the tyre with the low pressure the fault then disappears from the dash

  7. Any ideas how to reset it? I usually do use the garage airlines but pumped it up with my foot pump this time. I have replaced the drivers side sensor before when the signal kept dropping off, It doesn't feel like its a faulty sensor!

  8. Same mate, I usually have to do this a few times a year but this time the message hasn't cleared! think I will let all of the air out and switch it on to see if it comes up with puncture to get out of check mode then I will inflate I to 2.5bar

The later system as found in the MkIII is normally pretty good at self adapting (Unlike the MkII system). You won't be able to reset the INST or UCH without access to something like Autologic or CLIP i'm afraid.

  10. I do have a clip from my RS Maps but I've never actually used it since purchasing. Hoping deflating will reset it somehow!
