  1. Just been told by my friendly garage that both my ball joints are shot and so the lower arms need changing.

    been look online and found the arms for £105/£143 from Renault parts direct. Is this a good price? Is there anywhere else I should look at? And think I need to look out for or any upgrade options from the R26?

    also everywhere says I should replace the lower arm links, is this right? Or they just trying to take another £100 from me?

    any help and guidance would be helpful

  2. Just fitted them to mine.Iirc they are listed for a renault espace.

  3. How come

  4. The ones in the picture aren't threaded.
    Pinch bolt top.

  5. That's absolutely absurd for such a small suspension component unless they've priced to replace both lower arms with Renault parts.

    For the op the correct links are as follows (to rebuild existing OE lower arms):

    Front bush;

    Rear bush;

    Ball joint;

    Total cost for both sides is £43.74 plus delivery.

    Not sure what labour is involved.

  6. I nearly fell off my chair when he told me the price, for that price I suspected they'd change the lower arms.

    and that's from a very well known Renault specialist :eek:

  7. It's the full arms that I've been priced for. No one (away from here) as suggested that ball joint can be replaced.
    and one of them is a well done Renault specialist who after almost 2 weeks have still not called me back to sort out a time slot.

  8. Yeah I've had a disappointing time with garages over the last few years.

    Wish I had the time/tools to do it myself, you know the saying, "if you want something done properly . . . "

    But if you want any more info on the control arms there is a sticky at the top of this page loads of info.

  9. I can whole heartedly recommend Mark Black. He is a good mechanic!

  10. I have got in contact with Mr Black, so hopefully will have it in with him soon and start to get things sorted.

  11. Yeah he sounds awesome . . . just too far for me to travel . . . shame.
