New r26 owner

  1. Just picked up a white lux r26, 07 with 55k miles. Had a long drive home but it was very comfortable even being in there 5 hrs. Really glad i got one sits nice on the motorway and on the back roads near home have it a good run and it shifts quick. Best of both worlds. Found the gear chnages ok have read that the standard one is awful and too long, unless
It's has a short shift done in the past not sure really.

Few issues that I need to fix the drivers window goes up and down but the 1 click just jams the window and there is a slight clunk at the bottom. Need a new rear tyre and the drivers side lock button does not work - hoping this is not expensive to fix but think I may be wrong. Rear discs have some rusting in the holes so they will need doing at some point. Prob slightly overpaid but will see what the repairs come to.
Will prob look to get a stage 1 done soon as I work near to rs in leeds.

It has a head unit and 6cd changer is it possible to fix an aux lead ? Found an six option on the radio but can't see a place for the lead, might change this all for a double din

    sounds good mate!
Im the same - my gear change seems fine to me - would like to try a short shifter mod to see the difference I think
the door handfle shouldnt be too expensive to fix mate - you can get second hand handles on ebay for a few pounds, new shouldnt be too bad either
My R26 came with an aux lead going into glove box so there must be a plug on the back of the unit somewhere mate - ill have to remove mine for a look, need to anyway as it rattles badly for some reason

  3. Cayman I have a short shift fitted just a few weeks ago I am happy to meet up and you can have a try mate , im in Newport but often pass Cardiff on the way to barry ..

  4. Welcome mate... car sounds good... get some pics up!

  5. Whites the fastest colour ;-) scientifically proven lol welcoming you

  6. Welcome

  7. I fitted an aux to mine. It's not a cd changer unit to be fair but it cost £6 and took about 10 mins to do!

  8. Welcome ! I've had my R 26 for 6 days and the drivers window won't move ! I hope this isn't the taste things to come ? Apart from that they go down a good B road pretty well

  9. Where does the aux go? In the back of the unit?

With th the door handle it opens fine just does not lock so hopefully replacing the button might work

another small thing when the car is not moving when I turn the wheel from side to side it makes a quiet whirring noise - if that makes any sense . Any ideas what that could be?

And the the clutch pedal makes a whine occasionally when pressed. Just being very picky but want to know if anything is a problem that needs fixing soon

  10. Haha you'll get used to those things, it's just french car noises most of the time! I used to worry about that kind of thing all the time when I got mine! And yeah the aux just plugs in the back of the head unit and then you need to select an aux input in the settings! I'll see if I can find the ebay link for you

  11. It was that but I managed to get one with the pins to pop the head unit out for a quid more.

  12. Thanks for the link

  13. Hi and welcome!

I'm on my second megane and first RS.

I assume by button the door, you have the keyless entry? My 5dr Megane and 3dr RS have keyless and both have issues with the button to lock the doors. I believe it's the contact switch behind the plastic button which fails. Although one of my cars has intermittent working buttons which I suspect is due to moisture ingress.

I would like an Aux lead off my head unit too, however, if you have the carbasse unit which you may if it's a 6 CD changer up front, then I understand the amp and actual cable input are under the seat. Also you'll need to make sure it's the update list head unit. The other type won't accept an aux in. It will say "UPDATE LIST" on the front underneath the right hand side button.

Whirring noise from the steering- possibly the motor for the steering assist. These cars are electric PAS, column mounted.

Clutch noise could be clutch release bearing.

All these are just "could be's". Great cars and you will love it. Must be fast. Mine is the diesel 175 and is fairly nippy.

  14. Thanks for the link I think I will need to do that. Not quite sure what all the wires all but look later today. Mine is different to his in the pics but must be the same thing. Will check under the seat for the unit

  15. Well to confuse me more the head unit is a carbasse unit but there is no amp under any seat. Will pull the unit out and see what's what

  16. Did you pull the head unit? I've the same carbasse one inline and since posting now not convinced the head unit is somewhere other than where it should be, in the DIN slot!

    I quite fancy a connects2 Bluetooth adaptor.
