Hi all, has anyone done a how to on replacing these? Going to have a go tomorrow on my n/s. Do I need any specialist tooling or am I ok with just normal stuff? Any help would be amazing! Thanks
Well I attempted this yesterday, did not go to plan. Removed hub from the car but just couldn't get the collar to slide out to release the bottom side of the bearing. As my bearing had been replaced recently by rsc I started to look at the fitment. I noticed that the bearing seemed to be sat further in to the carrier than on the other side. So I gently pressed the bearing downwards until it seemed to stop, rebuilt it and my issue seems to have been resolved... Question is, has it moved by itself or was it pressed in too far when originally fitted?
Getting mine sent off to be done, before I remove do I need to remove track rod ends as mine need replacing anyway.
No need for a press for the lower swivel bearings, tap out and tap in. JON35Y I did the same on the 1st ones I did, tapped into hub too far. Simply tapped back to the correct position and all good.
Having watched Mark Black do mine last week I can say you don't need a press - but a decent vice to hold it all still whilst you drive bits in and out is useful. It's one of those easy jobs so long as it goes to plan. If you;re anywhere near Bolsgrove I would suggest (unless you're a "must do it myself" person) that you just go and see Mark as you'll know it'll be done right, and and done in a day (way less actually).
It seems to be ok now but I have spoken to Mark before about it. I did it the way you just described but I couldn't for the life of me get the collar out. Fingers crossed of won't need to now?!
Has anyone had the assembly replaced by renault? What do you get for your money parts wise? Just the bearing carrier or the alloy bit that connects to the shock absorber too?
