Hello Guys, Here's an open invite to join a trip I'm planning for August with a couple of friends. (MegRS, Clio200, 106Gti Track Car, Subaru WRX Sti) It's my 3rd trip, a yearly event in my calendar that I very much look forward to. Last year I met a forum member Steve with his R26R, and thought it would be a good idea to extend the invite to you guys too. Leaving 6am Ferry Dover Dunkirk on the 27th. (DFDS) The 'ring is open for two full-days which is rare that weekend. 29th and 30th. We're staying at Hotel an der Nordschleife (was about £140 each (2-sharing) for 4 nights! - Cheap and awesomely located) Returning on the 4pm Ferry on 31st. I thought I should share all the details so you can look at costs etc, but let me know if you're up for it. 2013 I did a 9:19 and had bought the car 2 days before. 2014 I'd been to Brands/Bedford/Castle Coombe then Nurburgring - Epic year - but damaged my gearbox linkage on the 3rd lap haha! Had a great trip 2015 the car is now mapped, has a new gearbox and ready for some fun... See you there? BF
11th-14th I am there. Funny how Renault World Series is there at the same time as me to!! Not been in my trophy yet, but been past 2 years in other cars.
Yes, September. We go as a group every year, probably about 10 or so cars of various shapes and sizes.
That's a big group! 2013 the cars were; Clio 172 (mine) Clio 182 Cup Mazda Mx5 Ford Focus diesel (rented a clio 200 for laps) VW Golf 2014 we didn't go with anyone, just me and a mate in his 1.7 puma track car. And 2015 is; Megane Trophy (me) 182 Trophy (rs2''d with 197 cams) Corsa VXR (260bhp) Astra VXR (300bhp) Bet your list is good with 10 cars!!!
What ferry crossing do yous use? I did newcastle to amsterdam last time. Only about 3-4 hours drive to the ring from there.
I think last year were 2 X Mk3 RS Megane, 1X R26R (me), Merc A45 AMG, 2 X Focus RS (one old one new), BMW 330d, Clio 182, Clio 197, Fiesta RS, BMW 530d Estate(!) Some go to drive, some go for the beer and some go to find out what all the fuss is about. We are an old Subaru group so it was mainly Impreza's when we first went, but over time people have changed cars etc. I even rented for a few years when I was without a suitable car. Much fun chasing and passing an R26R in a Twingo RS
I've just come back from the ring this weekend in my TT and was my 1st time, done a 9.02 on my 4th lap and put a deposit down on a megane purely because of how epic the meganes out there where
Your doing it wrong if it's a 6 hour drive. 4 hours at most from Dunkirk, we do it in around 3 1/2 these days
I will, maybe you could pick me up(and maybe a mate of mine in a MK1 FRS). Just have a look if 'Heerlen' in the Netherlands is on your way to the Ring, shouldn't be too far from your route
