Hi All Noticed this morning that the alcantara steering wheel in my 275 is starting to get a little "shiny" from daily use and the "fluffyness" (?) has pretty much gone out of it. What are some good, recommended products to bring it back to life? Same goes for the seats I guess, although they seem to be holding up slightly better. Bear in mind I am a complete novice to cleaning cars to any decent degree Cheers for the advice Tj
You get proper alcantara cleaner. Then just agitate with a toothbrush. It's the sweat and oil off your hands that does it. You're meant to wear gloves with a wheel like that to prevent it but in the real world who does...
I've got some Alcantara cleaner, was about £9 and works a treat. As said spray it on and agitate with a small brush, my steering wheel comes up lovely.
Thanks guys, any specific cleaner ... I found this and seems to be exactly what I am after http://shop.autofinesse.co.uk/total-500ml from this ... http://www.autofinesse.co.uk/portfolio/alcantara-cleaning-guide/ Haha I would feel like Alan Partridge if I wore driving gloves .. Maybe I should stop oiling up my delicate hands
I use Raceglaze alcantara cleaner for my R26 recaros and it works well. Lightly mist and brush over with a soft interior fabric brush then use a mirofibre cloth to dry. It removes the shine but its a material that requires regular upkeep to keep looking its best.
Autobrite do one which is good value too. Use a soft brush and soak up excess with a microfibre cloth. Don't scrub it as it will bobble .
Another vote for Raceglaze, it's specifically for alcantara and works really well. The Autofinesse Total is a great product, but better suited to interior fabric, plastic etc in my opinion.
Thats the only downside to alcantara trimmed wheels on daily driven stuff, it looks grotty very quickly and is why my retrimed one is still sitting on a shelf. Be interesting to see how the OEM wheels in the 275's wear.
Although mine is still looking like new, I'm quite concious of not keeping my hands on the wheel at the same position all the time - it's ridiculous
