Hi all any GoPro hero's in here? I need some help. My brother had a GoPro Hero - The basic one, and while wind noise is inevitable it makes one hell of a racket, something is clicking, now all of the clamps etc are tight so I dont know whats rattling? I'll upload a video shortly to demonstrate.
Mine did the same. The case wasnt quite as tight as possible and rattle. A lot of cellotape later and it was sorted
How's it mounted? Using the suction mount or these? http://www.outdoorhire.co.uk/images/full900x600px/gopro-curved-sticky-mounts.jpg I know the tolerance on the sticky mounts is poor and causes rattle too, I had to put some thin tape on the mount to .dampen it and reduce the clearance between mount and clip. Sounded like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMZ42h0wfQ8 /edit, the fix was like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niOGtmu6yD0
THanks guys, It's on there using the suction cup, GoPro website says to use 'LO' sound option for automotive to cancel out rattles, how is this option selected?
no idea.. keen to find out as I'd rather not have to sticky tape the buggery out of mine every time I use it.
http://gopro.com/support/articles/standard-definition-hero-sound-quality-overview Doesn't tell you how to fix it though.
I'll never work it out. Sellotape for me from now on. It does completely eliminate rattling sounds to be fair, so just the poxy wind noise to deal with.. oh well!
You can get a little rubber thing from gopro that squashes inbetween the mount and bit that clips in. It wedges everything tight. I think it may be called a nose plug, it looks like one lol. I have an external microphone for my hd hero2, its far better and no wind noise, plus it has a long lead so it can go in the engine bay or neer exhaust etc
I've never had the issue with the rattle I don't think, and have quite a few videos on my channel on YouTube. But as said, I've seen people put a bit of padding in the case with the camera, and use that rubber "nose plug" on the mount that comes with the camera, as FarmerChris says below. What mic do you use? Thinking of one for mine
This is the one i have. Id highly reccomend it. No more wind noise or case creaking! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002HJ9PTO/?tag=rsmeg-21 You need one with a built in power source because the camera dosnt supply its own power to mic.
