Hi all, came across this place when researching Meganes and finally found 'the car' yesterday, put a deposit down and thought I would join up. Its a 61 plate RS 250 in oyster grey. Looks like it's got pretty much every factory option going- full fat with cup chassis, leather Recaros, RS monitor, xenons with DRLs, arkamys 3d, 19" alloys. Hopefully picking it it up on the 2nd. Can't wait!
Welcome to the club mate, good choice of car. I'm on my second meg, first being a 225 trophy to my 250 meg and loving every minute of it. Get some pics up!
Im in a village just outside Boroughbridge, not far from York. Any recommendations for garages in the area for services?
Yes it is! I wondered if it was a forum members when I got it. Anything I should know about the car before I fully commit? Was wondering why the second owner didn't keep it for long? Looks like you've kept it real nice though its in top condition from what I can see
I had the car from new (my original order was glacier white but the dealership made a mistake and ordered it in Oyster Grey!) and once it was run-in I had it remapped at RS Tuning in Leeds (made 300bhp on the rollers - I've still got the rr printouts if you want them). I'd check whether its had the ECU flashed since I traded it in as that would have wiped the map off (the remap made it much better IMO!). Despite being remapped, the car didn't have a hard life, I can honestly say I didn't thrash it! It was driven hard every so often (as you don't buy a hot hatch to nurse it around town!) but as my daily commute is 6 miles along a 60mph B road, it had a pretty easy life! Its strange that it's second owner moved it on so quickly! I traded it in to JCT600 Bentley in Newcastle and it turned up in JCT600 Lotus in Leeds a few weeks later. I only spotted it for sale again last week at another JCT600 branch and so assumed it hadn't sold and had just been moved to another dealership! But it does look as though it's done 1,500 miles since I traded it in. My original for sale thread is here http://www.rsmegane.com/showthread....y-19-5k-miles!-Cup-amp-Recaro-packs-RST-Stg-1
Any idea how I would find out if it had been flashed or not? It did feel pretty fast though, probably quicker than another 250 I drove thinking about it now. There was a second name on the v5 and the dealer told me the second owner traded it back in after a couple of months as "it was too fast for him" which I thought was strange didn't know what he was expecting buying a hot hatch! Im buying the car to hopefully keep for a long time so it's good to know where it's come from and that its been looked after.
Sounds like the map is still on it then! Its likely that it would have only been flashed if it had been to a Renault dealership and put on a diagnostic machine for any warranty work etc. 250's are quite slow without the map, so if it was noticeably quicker then that's a sure sign. I'd be able to tell straight away if I drove it again lol.
Cheers mate. I'm from Stockton originally BTW and still have family up there so you may see me about from time to time around Boro. Be sure to flag me down and say hello if you spot me!
Will do! I'm based in Billingham, would be good to see the car again! I've missed it since trading it in, completely different animal to the M3 that I got to replace it.
It's highly unlikely that the RST map will have been wiped particularly given the millage since traded, get the car bought be harder to find a better one! It was very well looked after when Chris had it, driving the car made me want a 250!!
Thanks guys, only 4 days to go now! Can't wait. Been stocking up on my car cleaning supplies in preparation and will post some pics up once I collect it and get it cleaned and waxed. Gazzer, thanks mate it is a nice car, sorry you missed out. I noticed Redline in Knaresborough currently have 3 RS250's up for sale, one is a similar spec to mine if you're still looking?
I pick up a white 11 reg 250 today , so all worked out good i bought a golf gti from jct 600 and they were fantastic with after sales
Picked the car up today! Loving it so far. I've posted a thread in the detailing section with a few pics of it and quick write up.
