  1. Hi all,

New guy from Glasgow. Picked myself up a 225 Megane in Inferno Orange last week.

My first turbo (and French! :eek:smile: car, after coming from a couple of Type R Civics.

    Enjoying it so far.

  2. Welcome... I guess you got my PM on the other forum then

  3. I did yes...took me a while to log back in!...other one is a little quiet as you say.

  4. Welcome... get some pics up

  5. Welcome. How have you found yourself in Megane after CTR?

  6. Not had a chance to take many photos.

Hopefully I can give the car a thorough clean over the weekend, the paintwork needs a good clay and polish up to get it back to looking itself.

Im actually quite enjoying it after the type r (2008 model), it’s a nice car to drive and the vast improvement in torque from the turbo is fun, along with the dumping noise.

Anyway here are some snaps. Alloy wheels need sorted and exhaust tips need polished up.

    Glasgow is a large place.....

  13. Is it? :-)

  14. Welcome along rd55, cars looking good

where about in Glasgow are you?

  15. Cheers guys. I'm from Hamilton.

  16. Haha just outside Glasgow then, how you enjoying it then?

  17. Yeah enjoying the car! Loving boost and the dump noise.

Might look into some small mods, get the wheels sorted and give the car a proper detail, i imagine the orange will look fantastic when swirl free.

  18. It will look stunning once detailed mate, I've got the itch to get modding to but it's other niggles that need sorted first, think a custom exhaust and remap miby injectors too :tongueout:

welcome along, cars lovely, sort that front wheel mind!

  20. Don’t worry, wheels are due to get sorted. Got new discs, pads, drop links, trackrod ends, service kit and CV boot to go on in the next few days.

Also plan to get a stainless exhaust made up from where it is currently blowing from the flex.

Ive not really read much into tuning of these, but is there any reputable tuners in the Glasgow area? Also what can I expect from a map on one of these, I recall someone telling me verbally that the 225 didn’t respond too well to mapping?

  21. Not sure about any tuners up near you but they respond well to maps anywhere from 250-270ish after a stage 1.
If theres no one local and you don't fancy a trip to Leeds (RStuning) theres always the RSTUNER from fastchip if you fancy a generic map

  22. Ecotune, think they are based in Hillington over Renfrew way, they have a good rep am pretty sure someone on the other site had his 175dci mapped and was happy with the results, RStuning is the place to go but is a fair trek for us up here, paul knows these cars inside out, and its not a straight map, he makes sure all is well and healthy with the map and car

Yup, Ecotune are spot on! Mine is going in for a Stage 2 map soon

  24. Welcome, I am not far from you over in EK. I would recommend making the trip to Paul at RSTuning. Even with the cost of fuel, Paul does a better and cheaper map than Ecotune, in my opinion

  25. No real update of such. However got my wheels refurbished and powdercoated in Titanium.

Got a whole list of fresh parts to go on the car over the next few weeks:

New Disks and pads all round (rears look like fun with the bearings), drop links, tie rods, service kit. After this I can treat it to a good detail as its well needed and get my winter protection done.

If I keep the car past the spring il look into some intake and map…hopefully be able to up the power to circa 250-260.

  26. Wheels look good there, rear discs are a piece of cake mate

  27. Looking good! Good luck trying to get the weather for the winter detail, whenever I have time it always seems to be either blowing a gale, or chucking it down.

  28. Not done much since last update. Gave the car a good clean and had the Water Pump & All belts done by Rentec in Edinburgh. Good price so i would recommend them to anyone.

Seen a new car that i like so i think il be putting this up for sale shortly...got its mot this week so fingers crossed!

Anyway, managed to give it a clean and have a chance to take some photos:

  29. That colour looks stunning once cleaned

    what car you looking at

  30. Looking at a Honda S2000...a little bit different but I'm going to Le Mans in June so wanting something different/fun.

Id agree, its a striking colour, pictures were taken on my iPhone and look quite impressive. Its only had a quick hand polish...ive not even had the change to machine polish it yet cos of this crap weather!

  31. I would love an s2000 but need to wait till the kids are a bit older or unless the missis gets her own car lol

yeah weather has been shocking the past few day, I had to abandon the meg on Friday night she wasn't moving with these mss tyres on think I may need some winter tyres for the next few months

  32. Welcome.

  33. Yeah winter tyres make a massive difference, had them on my old type r for 2 winters and they were great. They wernt that expensive and it saves your good tyres & wheels from getting ruined by the salt.

Touch wood ive got about fine in the megene so far.
