Exhaust trim removal. RS250?

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by Nick3814, May 16, 2014.

  1. Hi guys, anyone removed the metal trim in the rear diffuser recently, got a carbon replacement to fit and trying to figure how it comes off with causing any damage?

    Cheers

  2. Doesn't the Streamline carbon unit slip over the original? And I'm pretty sure the OEM trim is actually plastic...

  3. Get some pics up Nick when it's on, quite like the look of these

  4. I'm sure it's a diffuser off job in order to access the fittings

  5. No def replaces it Ben, aye it's like plastic chrome but has some sort of metal clips on the rear by the looks of it.

  6. Will do mate, not fitting it just yet as having a Scorpion decal sorted for, bit like the akrapovic trim on the new 275

    Well that's the idea

  7. Bugger! Cheers.

  8. Where can I get that exhaust trim replacement? How much does it cost?

  9. Thank you. £199 seems to be quite expensive. Is it easy to fit?

  10. It's on offer at the minute, £179! Not fitted it yet, that was the reason for the thread

  11. I know. I have just thought you had sorted that in a meantime. I have seen offer. They have plenty of things for Megane RS mk3.

  12. Look forward to the pics, love the idea of the scorpion decal!

Its easy, Just lever it off with a screwdriver, No need to remove anything. Took me 2 mins tops to change mine out for the black trim i have now

  14. Do you mean put the screwdriver between the top of the trim and the black diffuser and force it off?

  15. Got it off as you said Jamie, cheers matey

  18. Hi

did u manage to get it off without removing diffuser ? If so how ? I saw other posts about using screwdriver but couldn't manage it without fear of damage.

    Cheers

  19. Hello mate, the surround has four tabs, two top, two bottom, they fit into slots in a metal frame, you can't damage the frame and the tabs on the surround are pretty substantial. I just concentrated on the top right tab as I could see it (from the inside side of the surround) and prised at it lifting it up so it came out of the slot then the rest of the surround kind of wiggled free. Don't be afraid to put quite a bit of pressure on mate, it's all pretty substantial

  20. Cheers mate. Gonna give it a try.

  21. Just a quick one before I do try....are the clips between the surround (which I'm trying to remove) and the black plastic splitter or between the surround and the metal frame / heat shield. ? Also any clue as to what the cilia look like ? Sorry fur all the questions mate. Cheers.

I've been trying this but can't seem to get it off, I've tried getting under the car and getting it off from behind. I can see the clips but no matter how much I bend them it still won't come loose!
