R26 Power Steering

  1. Hi all i really enjoying driving my R26 now i have a new clutch and replaced all lower arm bushes with Powerflex bushes it drives grear. The only little niggle is really the power steering seems very light at lower speeds it dose weight nicely over 40 to 50mph. Compared to cars I've had seem much weightier at lower speeds is this a characteristic or the Renault Megane? Or is something wrong with my car? Can i adjust the amount of assistance at all?

Nothing wrong with it if it weights up, i think t-its very well weighted for track, road and parking, you will get used to it soon.

My wifes Fiat Punto had a city button, it was almost impossible to drive in that mode, the steering was so light it was scary

  3. Thanks for the reply mate that's good to know all is well i will just get used to it in time i guess

  4. Mine has always felt a little too light too. Although, mine is in need of an alignment and I think that makes it worse. Could that be the case with yours too?

  5. That's a good point i have had the sub frame out to fit bushes and a new clutch so i should really get the alignment checked and set really. Maybe that will make it a little better too

  6. I think getting it done by someone who knows what they’re doing is equally important.

  7. Inside the power steering ECU there is a mode setting that changes the steering weight/feel for the different car models it's fitted to. It's from 1 to 4, should be on 1.
Has your PAS column been changed?

  8. Yes i believe so it was changed before i owned it by the last owners mechanic maybe they had it set wrong?

  9. Can i adjust it myself?

  10. I've been having some problems with my PAS, so I bought the Renolink software and cable to read the codes. I can do it with that. It's a bit tricky to use because it's all in French.
Not sure what else can do it, apart from clip.
