Since having a new clutch fitted. I am having difficulty selecting gears It was difficult engaging 1st, then I had it adjusted now its difficult to select 6th. Do I need new cables? The car has done 53K / Any solutions would be gratefully received.
What clutch did you have fitted, have you bled it enough and when the cars off what’s it like shifting through the gears
The parts were all renault. Shifting is the problem gear stick is floppy and difficult to get a smooth change especially into 6th.
could be numerous causes one certainly is shitty design plastic cable bridge located on top rear of gearbox that secures the two gear cables, if it was damaged (cracked) any movement will make gear selection difficult. sadly its battery box out to inspect which if not done before can be a challenge
You can get a aluminium casting version from the 175 DCI r26, same gearbox PK4-013 type, lot stronger design, but i am assuming the cable fitment is the same as it looks like it by the photos i have seen, plus i know some people have put a 250 box in a 175
Would be amazing if the two parts were interchangeable but then wonder why would reno develop that woeful plastic part if already had alloy one
It’s £125 For new cables. Can’t see it being that hard to change them. Depends how handy with spanners you are
Can anyone please recommend a renault specialist who knows what they are doing? Ive contacted K Tek but they have a 8 week waiting list.. With in a reasonable distance from Hastings? Thanks
Cable ends are easy as just clip on it’s the rubber seal half way along cable that’s silly difficult initially might think need take centre console out but can just about be done in place very very tight though RenTec, Portsmouth
it’s got to be the bleeding process couldn’t of been bled properly that’s usually the case with these cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All sorted !! Happy days, I had a trip to Rentech yesterday, I purchased some new selector cables from RPD and they fitted them for me. Very pleased the gear change feels like driving a new car. Thank you all for the advise
has it made the gear change more precise now the the cables have been changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RenTec, is that in Portsmouth? Suprised he fit the cable for you, every time I've spoken to him he's refused to fit any parts that he doesn't supply which has made me avoid him
i got my cables replaced with a garage called ren tech in my area and my cables took 3 weeks to come they came from france dieppe good to hear it sorted for you [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I got the parts from RPD but Mike wanted to see the invoice from them, to prove they were genuine parts they also fitted a replacement pollen filter too, it did look as if mine had ever been changed since new, it was bad.
now you’v mentioned the pollen filter i didn’t change mine four four years i was wondering why the inside of the car always steamed up when it rained mine was like a birds nest full of twigs and leaves it was so bad i had to get the hoover out behind there[emoji1787] [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
