275 Fast road brake setup

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Vulcan3, Jun 8, 2020.

  1. Looking to make the brakes on the Meg feel sharper and capable of tackling the odd track day every year. Settled on some RBF600 for fluid, and also looking to get some pads which can take decent abuse but are also not overly dusty or noisy and work fine from cold since the car is very much predominantly a daily driver.

    PFC Z rated look by far the best option for front pads, but what do you guys run or recommend running on the rear for a fast road / occassional track setup? The PBS ProTrack pads seem like the best value on the rears, but are these suitable for the road? The internet suggests they work from cold but I can't find any details on how dusty or noisy they are. There's also the likes of DS2500 and M1144 which are known to work on the road but are also more expensive than the PBS pads. Or do i just stick with OEM?

    Any advice is appreciated.

  2. rear really doesnt do much..even some serious track guys use oem,and certainly dont got mad on the rears.

    I have tried a few different types of pads, as Andrew says the rears aren't really that important, i have tried Yellow stuff, oem and now i run Textar's (cheap) can't say i have ever noticed any difference in them.

    The fronts i use Carbon Lorraine CL8's, they work great from cold right up to very hot, my calipers have changed colour due to the heat produced in braking.

    I have tried OEM fronts, they were in there when i bought the car, quite surprised how good they actually were, they didn't really fade but i had to brake a lot earlier.

    I did try Performance Friction Z rated pads they were okay, but never had the bite they did in my 225.

    I also tried the PBS pads as they were recommended to me, tried them twice but after nearly failing to slow enough for a corner at the ring, they went in the bin.

    Might try the DSuno's next, but there a lot of money if they don't work as i want.

    My car is a track car, i do drive to and from a trackday but its not my daily

    Hope this helps :laughing::laughing:

  4. Thanks guys, had a feeling you could get away with oem on the rear. Will go z rated front and oem rear and see how that goes.

  5. My old setup was Brembo HC Discs and PF Z rated pads up front, oem discs and pads at the rear plus RBF660 and a full braided line kit. For fast road it was a very nicely balanced combination.
