Fascinating, I had assumed they had all gone and it seems I don't in fact have to work all week. Unbelievably busy recently. I will ask if I can get Friday out and if so will attempt to book on tomorrow evening.
That would be great, we can then have a play, hopefully a longer time on track in my temporary replacement weapon of choice, well the wife has lent me her car
Enjoy. If I wasn't on a niteshift on the Thursday I'd have done this instead of Rockingham on the Sat. Ian don't break your wife's motor!
Unfortunately can't get out of work, have an important bid that has just come in to support so likely a long day on Friday. Have a good one guys.
Yes including me again, a couple of nice RAC men taking me home , so i am now in the dog house, my wife is now going to use my Merc SL55 to commute to work till i fix her seized engine, was a really good day till that point, it was quite quick for a standard diesel, might even get it mapped when it's up and running again, so i think my engine rebuild is still going to happen, but fitting it back into the car have to take a back seat until she is back in her car.
Unbelievable. Have you heard that blues song mate 'born under a bad sign'? The bad luck you have been having with engines is properly incredible.
It's not as if you can really abuse those diesels as they have the govoner/limiter etc. I reckon that pump was already on the way out and just bad timing you were driving it rather than the Mrs. Did she buy That?
Ian sorry to hear about this but also I should advise you I will never ever let you drive my car. Just can't take the risk lol
Ahh thanks for the support Well she is almost okay with it now, when i said it could of happened when she was driving it it seems okay now, she just wants it back ASAP
Out of curiousity do you guys do UK trackdays over winter i.e. Dec/Jan/Feb? And if so do you just use road tyres?
Have done in the past, if it's wet Rainsport 3's or if it's damp or dry Federal 595rs-r, but i don't think i will be doing any this winter as i have 2 engines to rebuild Working to get mine sorted for February as i am hoping that Silverstone comes up again
And what if it's wet? I can't take 2 sets so would something like rain sports as Ian suggest get me through winter?
As above, if its dry and the tyres have been scrubbed in before when the weather was warm then its amazing how much grip can be generated even on freezing cold days, once you get some heat into the tyres. Just don't make the mistake of trying to scrub in new track tyres when it is really cold, I have done that before, it was like a bad joke spent half the day sliding about like I was driving on ice and just couldn't get any scrub onto the tyres and thus heat into them. I have AD08R tyres on our R26 all the time currently, the mrs has been driving the thing and seems perfectly happy with the car.
My mistake was running ns2r on a cold wet track and it was like being on ice. When it dried after lunch they were as great as usual. My mate swears by AD08s but they're not the cheapest.
Ben Patey is currently doing 225/40/18's for 200 a pair and theres a guy from Slough that does them for the same, IIRC NS2r's are around that as well aint they?
Nah hes on facebook, They guy on eBay goes by Bankofebay, Message him and he will deal out of eBay at a reduced rate
