I recently bought a Megane RS 250 that the previous owner had just put EBC yellow stuff pads in. Having done a few road miles to bed in I did a track day and the brakes only had bite up to a point but then no more. They certainly did not inspire confidence. The brakes feel a bit squidgy too despite bleeding them. I noticed that the discs dont seem to be cleaning up to be bright and shiny with the new pads either. Previously had a Clio RS, which I think had the standard Brembo pads and they were fine on track days. Any thoughts?
The Megane is heavier for starters. I didn't rate EBC yellows. Had a set once and took to Blyton. Faded very quickly, worse than OEM i thought. I use CL RC5+ when I track it. OEM discs and braided hoses. Regular fluid changes help too.
Thanks for the advice Chris. I'll give those pads a try. I already have braided hoses and DOT 5.1 so hopefully I'm nearly there.
Just to let you know I swapped the EBC yellows for the CL RC5+ and they are a big improvement. Thanks or the advice
yellowstuff are absolutely terrible..2 hard stops till they fade..just amazing they can be marketed as a fast road pad! Hope your disks arnt to badly chewed up..yellowstuff eat them.
Hi Andrew Bought the car with yellows just fitted - just did a few road miles, and then a track day at Bedford. Had a similar experience - ok on the road initially then just faded quickly on the track. Discs look fine - so looking forward to RC5+'s on the track
