Been quoted 300 quid for front discs and pads supplied and fitted for my 2006 megane 225. I asked for standard discs and pads and think this is really expensive. EBay sell front discs and pads for around 150 quid so 150 quid labour sounds insane, does it not?
You sure they are the same discs and pads you're comparing? I wouldn't balk at £300 for OEM front discs and pads fitted, especially if they included new pins and/or they didn't bash all the paint off the calipers.
It should be a fairly simple job ONLY if the pins come out easily. If you have trouble getting the pins out you will wish you paid for someone else to do it. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
get a set of these if you haven't got them and give it a go yourself. there not hard http://www.screwfix.com/p/5-piece-nail-punch-set-1-16-to-3-16/14184#_=p
Will do mate. Thank you. Need to go screwfix anyway to get a wheel wrench. Discs and pads won't be here till end of week I don't think. Thanks for reply and help.
When i was changing my fron discs first time it was 1 hour job, so i think it is better to do it yourself, use somekind penetrating lubricant in spray if pins wont come out, let it seddle for 10minutes and then you can knock it ou with ease
Thanks for the advice. Got some of that at work that I can use. Brakes arrived today but working all weekend so hopefully get them done Monday. If I'm not back on here after Monday I'll be in a ditch somewhere.
done the brakes. took me 2 hours. 3 of the pins came out with minimal fuss. Passenger side a lot easier than drivers side. One of the pins on drivers side was an absolute nightmare. I found removing the caliper first helped a lot as you can get a proper grip on the pin plus get into the little gaps easier with the penetrating spray. Thanks to everyone for your advice.
Iv just bought oem pads and discs for the R26. less than £130 delivered. https://www.roadtrackraceparts.com
Mate, I was gonna get my pants pulled right down then. I thought oem were more expensive than something like a brembo disc but if you can get them for 130 I'm sure a Renault master technician could do too. Then 170 labour on top? Scammers.
Hi. oem is Brembo. Contact George at Road and Track, he'll sort you out. If you live anywhere near Congleton - Cheshire, Il do the labour for you.
I've done mine mate. Got the discs and pads off eBay in the end. 134 I think they were. Took me 2 hours. Was quoted 300 for discs and pads supplied and fitted.
Bought the last set from Amazon. Took an extra week past the delivery eta to arrive and some crappy emails from me but they got here and are genuine so all in £99 delivered [emoji1303] RS 175 Cup Lux
