Discs and pads quote

Been quoted 300 quid for front discs and pads supplied and fitted for my 2006 megane 225.
I asked for standard discs and pads and think this is really expensive. EBay sell front discs and pads for around 150 quid so 150 quid labour sounds insane, does it not?

  2. You sure they are the same discs and pads you're comparing?

I wouldn't balk at £300 for OEM front discs and pads fitted, especially if they included new pins and/or they didn't bash all the paint off the calipers.

162 quid on Renault parts direct so that's 138 labour?

  4. It should be a fairly simple job ONLY if the pins come out easily.
If you have trouble getting the pins out you will wish you paid for someone else to do it.

  10. When i was changing my fron discs first time it was 1 hour job, so i think it is better to do it yourself, use somekind penetrating lubricant in spray if pins wont come out, let it seddle for 10minutes and then you can knock it ou with ease

Thanks for the advice. Got some of that at work that I can use. Brakes arrived today but working all weekend so hopefully get them done Monday. If I'm not back on here after Monday I'll be in a ditch somewhere.

done the brakes. took me 2 hours.
3 of the pins came out with minimal fuss. Passenger side a lot easier than drivers side.
One of the pins on drivers side was an absolute nightmare. I found removing the caliper first helped a lot as you can get a proper grip on the pin plus get into the little gaps easier with the penetrating spray.
Thanks to everyone for your advice.

Mate, I was gonna get my pants pulled right down then. I thought oem were more expensive than something like a brembo disc but if you can get them for 130 I'm sure a Renault master technician could do too. Then 170 labour on top? Scammers.

  15. Hi. oem is Brembo.
Contact George at Road and Track, he'll sort you out.
If you live anywhere near Congleton - Cheshire, Il do the labour for you.

I try to avoid Amazon at all costs, they don't pay into the system!
